Overview/Course Objective◦ We will study the foundation of economics (from

scarcity to economic systems), micro and macro economics, international trade and personal finance.

◦ The main goal of this class is to give the student a practical economic perspective of the myriad social issues that we encounter in everyday life.

Attendance◦ If an absence is excused you have one week to

complete any work assigned. ◦ Work missed due to an unexcused absence will not be

accepted! ◦ It is your responsibility to get make-up work or

missed notes when you return from an absence! ◦ You will be informed of upcoming tests well in advance

of that test, if you miss the day before a test, you will still be required to take the test on the day it is given.

◦ 5 times tardy and you will receive a referral. After 10 absences your administrator will contact you. (Yes, technically you can be dropped after 10 absences)

Assignments◦ No late work will be accepted! If you know you are

going to have an issue finishing an assignment on time, see me. Homework should be typed and/or emailed to Mr. Haglin (email address will be given)

Materials◦ Pen, pencil, notebook with paper, binder for

handouts. I will not be checking a book out to you. We do use the book in class. Please see me when or if you think you might need to check out a book for a short time.

Grading 20-30 point Lecture quiz each week/other

week 15-30 In Class and home reading

assignments (approx. 2 per unit) 50-75 point Unit (6) tests 50 point Midterm Objective final worth 20% of grade Extra Credit may be available (see instructor)

Class Rules1. Be on time and in your seat when the final bell rings.2. No food or GUM. Bottled water and bottled or canned

soda type drinks are acceptable.3. Please respect yourself, your fellow classmates, and

your teacher. I have little patience for those who need too much attention.

4. Cell phones and other electronic devices are to be turned off and put away. If this rule is not followed, the device will be confiscated by instructor!

5. All policies in the student handbook will be enforced.
