Central European Implant Academy was founded in the autumn of 2005 (pic. 2). The co-founders were: Piotr Majewski, PhD, DMD, Jagiellonian University (Foundation for the Development of Prosthodontics) and BIOMET3i - Dental Depot Wasio. The aim of the newly established Central European Implant Academy (CEIA) was a need to create a program to

develop skills in the field of advanced dental implantology. In the course of several years, CEIA has signed cooperation agreements with renowned research centers, scientists and specialists, such as: New York University College of Dentistry (pic. 4, 5, 6), Professor Markus Hürzeler (pic. 3), Professor Dennis Tarnow, University of Gothenburg (pic. 8), OSIS EDI, etc.

CEIA, in association with Piotr Majewski PhD, DMD, is also the recommended center preparing to Dental Implantologist qualification OSIS EDI. The Symposiums of Central European Implant Academy (pic. 1, 5, 7) gather every year from 300 up to 500 participants and have permanently entered to the main events program in Poland and other Central European countries.

Piotr MAJEWSKI, PhD, DMD:

PART I: Clinical review and classification of dental implantoprosthetic complications. When we have to remove implant and when we can preserve it? The treatment concepts for hard and soft tissue complications around preserved implants.

In the first part of the lecture the complications as a consequence of improper qualification for implant treatment will be discussed. On the basis of clinical cases the author will present surgical procedures on hard and soft tissues to solve the problems associated with implant-prosthetic maltreatment in respect to both – esthetic and functional aspects. Long time observations of patients treated with dental implants show that after years the periimplant soft and hard tissues are prone to different pathologic factors that, in consequence, may lead to periimplant mucositis and periimplantitis. Those problems have been underestimated through many years..

PART II:Periimplantitis. Pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment concepts.

In the second part of the lecture the occurrence, diagnosis, pathogenesis of periimplantitis as well as differentation of the factors influencing periimplant disease will be described. The author will also present surgical and prosthetic treatment of periimplantitis according to the literature and his own observations.

periodontal-restorative solutions to more complex case types involving orthodontics, periodontics, and prosthetics. After this presentation, the attendee should be able to:- Know the potential of hard and soft tissue correction around aesthetically challenged anterior implants- Know when adjunctive orthodontic therapy should be employed- Know when a prosthetic restorative solution is the best treatment plan option

Stephen CHU, DMD, MSD, CDT:Current knowledge in managing post-extraction socket implants in the aesthetic zone: the single tooth implant restoration.

Implant dentistry is continuously evolving offering new and more predictable forms of therapy with minimally invasive protocols. Innovative techniques now allow for better esthetics, decreased treatment times, and greater patient comfort. However, these new techniques and therapies continue to raise questions and concerns regarding the risk and rewards of each. Specifically, controversial issues regarding immediate versus delayed implant placement in relationship to survival and esthetic outcomes. Immediate provisional restoration of immediate implants placed into healed [delayed] or augmented sites will be presented. In addition, this lecture will address current concepts, techniques, clinical research, histologic evidence, and innovations in immediate implant placement and provisional restoration and how they can enhance treatment procedures, time, and clinical outcomes for greater patient comfort, care, and satisfaction. After this presentation, the attendee should be able to understand the following concepts associated with immediate implant placement and provisional restoration:- Understand the treatment time and survival rates associate with immediate protocols- Treatment objectives of immediate versus delayed provisional restorations- The prosthetic and biologic impact on hard tissue buccal contour change and peri-implant soft tissue thickness

Coffee break

Francesco AMATO, D.D.S., M.D., Ph.D.:Hard and soft tissue management for the single tooth implant rehabilitation in the esthetic area.

The topic of the lecture is the single tooth implant rehabilitation in the anterior maxillary area. Three different clinical scenarios will be described: 1. Clinical cases were alveolar bone and adjacent bone peaks are intact. 2. Clinical cases were alveolar bone is compromised but adjacent bone peaks are intact. 3. Clinical cases were alveolar bone and adjacent bone peaks are both compromised. Different treatment options will be described and pros and cons of each therapeutic line will be discussed. The lecture will focus on hard and soft tissue management both surgical and orthodontical, type of graft, immediate vs delayed placement, implant selection and timing and characteristics of provisionalization. Clinical experience and evidence based decision will be combined in order to give to the clinician practical guidelines to achieve predictable results.

Coffee break.

Stephen CHU, DMD, MSD, CDT:Managing esthetic failures on anterior dental implants: etiologies & treatment solutions.

Esthetic failures associated with dental implants in the esthetic zone can be one of the greatest challenges facing the dental team. These dilemmas can present themselves as either midfacial, interdental, or combination defect types. A significant part of treatment therapy revolves around correction of these esthetic defects due to either poor treatment planning, implant placement, and restorative contours. Surgical, orthodontics, and restorative treatment planning options and techniques to address these esthetic deficiencies will be presented in a sequential manner from simple
