OVERVIEWThis two and a half day meeting is designed to offer attendees a review of a variety of oncological diseases combined with the latest developments in medical, interventional and surgical therapeutic options. A practical overview of how to incorporate emerging therapies into practice will also be included with emphasis on the multidisciplinary approach needed to achieve the highest levels of success in the fight against cancer. Leading experts from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine other national and international programs will present the latest data and treatment innovations for oncological challenges in multiple organ systems. The meeting will be didactic and interactive with emphasis on education and practical implementation, from diagnosis to treatment.

GAP ANALySISIn the past few years, interventional oncology has evolved into an important subspecialty as more interventional radiologists are actively involved in the management of oncologic patients. Unlike other procedures handled by interventional radiologists, interventional oncology requires an in-depth understanding of the different types of cancers, current standards and proper use of treatment choices and working with a multidisciplinary group. Synergy 2012 will be a forum for the convergence of the expertise and knowledge of various specialists involved in oncologic care to promote better understanding and improved outcomes of patient care.

TARGET AUDIENCE Interventional radiologists, oncologists, radiation oncologists, transplant and oncologic surgeons, hepatologists, gastroenterologists, urologists and nurse practitioners/nurses and allied healthcare professionals.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the completion of the course, attendees will be able to:• Identify the current oncological problems faced in a variety of

organ systems. • Implement modern multidisciplinary techniques for diagnosis

and intervention in the treatment of cancer • Incorporate modern interventional radiology therapeutic

techniques in cancer treatment
