    TITLE - A STUDY ON JOB SATISFACTION OF PAPER MILL

    EMPLOYEES

    ABSTRACT

    Job satisfaction is a general attitude towards ones job, the difference between the

    amount of reward workers receive and the amount they believe they should receive.

    Employee is a back bone of every organization, without employee no work can be done. So

    employees satisfaction is very important.

    Employees will be more satisfied if they get what they epected, job satisfaction

    relates to inner feelings of workers. !s "dumalpet and #alani $aluk are famous for paper

    industries, the main aim of this study is to analyze the satisfaction level of paper mill

    employees. %hi&S'uare test and percentage analysis have been used in this study to analyze

    the job satisfaction of paper mill employees. $he study shows that only (() of the

    employees are satisfied with the working conditions, *+) of them with the welfare facilities,

    (() of them with the accident compensation, and () of them are satisfied with the rewards

    provided and -) of them are satisfied with the grievance handling procedure.

    $he organization may give importance to certain factors such as %anteen, rest room

    facilities, rewards, recognition and promotion policy so that satisfaction of the employees

    may be improved further.

    INTRODUCTION

    Job satisfaction is the collection of tasks and responsibilities regularly assigned to one

    person, while a job is a group of positions, which involves essentially the same duties,

    responsibility, skill and knowledge. Job satisfaction has some relation with the mental health

    of the people. /t spreads the goodwill of the organization. Job satisfaction reduces

    absenteeism, labour turnover and accidents. Job satisfaction increases employees morale,

    productivity, etc. Job satisfaction creates innovative ideas among the employees. /ndividuals

    may become more loyal towards the organization.Employees will be more satisfied if they get what they epected, job satisfaction

    relates to inner feelings of workers. 0aturally it is the satisfied worker who shows the

    maimum effectiveness and efficiency in his work. 1ost people generalize that workers are

    concerned more about pay rather than other factors which also affects their level of

    satisfaction, such as canteen facilities, bonus, working conditions, etc. these conditions are

    less significant when compared to pay.

    Employees play are important role, so employees satisfaction is a very essential one,

    hence there arises a need to study the job satisfaction of paper mill employees,

    OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

    . $o analyze the satisfaction level of the employees rewards

    *. $o analyze the satisfaction level of the employees welfare measures and Job security

    (. $o suggest some measures for improving the satisfaction level of the employees.

    SCOPE OF THE STUDY

    Job satisfaction should be major determinants of an employee organizational

    behavior.

    ! satisfied employee will be having positive attitude towards his or her job and would

    go beyond the normal epectation in his or her job.

    ! person who places high importance on imagination, independence and freedom is

    likely to be poorly matched with an organization that seeks conformity from its

    employees.

    RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

    analysis of data in amanner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with

    economy in procedure.

    . Sa%&'!#" es!"#$ Sampling design refers to the techni'ue or procedure the researcher

    would adopt in selecting items from the sample.

    *. Sa%&'!#" s!(e$ +22 employees were selected after considering time and cost.

    (. Sa%&'!#" %e)h*$ %onvenience method of sampling is used to collect the data from the

    respondents.

    -. Da)a c*''ec)!*#$ $he data is collected from both primary and secondary sources. #rimary

    data is collected through interview schedule and the secondary data is collected from books,

    magazines, and websites etc.

    SAMPLING TECHNI+UE

    3or the purpose of research study, the method of simple random sampling is

    undertaken.

    LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

    $he study is limited to paper mill only and therefore, the findings of the study cannot

    be etended to other areas. !ll the findings and observations made in the study are purely

    based on the respondents answers which may be biased. $ime and cost is also another

    constraint.

    CONCLUSION

    $he organizations lack the relationship between workers and supervisors, it should be

    given due consideration. $he organizations also lack on certain factors such as working

    conditions, %anteen, rest room facilities, rewards, recognition and promotion policy.

    Employees welfare measures and Job security should be given utmost importance, so that the

    employees turnover may be restricted.

    $he organizations need to modify the reward system of the employees and promotions

    must be given based on merit, educational 'ualification and eperience, and if these factors

    are given little more care, the company can maintain good workers with high level of

    satisfaction, organizational commitment and involvement. $his will in turn lead to

    effectiveness and efficiency in their work which leads to increased productivity.
