A Triple ThreatThe Willowcreek Grill and Raw Sushi is

now Windingcreek Grill and Drunken Koi

Sushi. Cylos Lounge is also a member of this

restaurant family and share both the kitchen

and hospitality. The trio have slowly been

transforming under the deft hand of new

owner and former general manager, Scott

Weiss. Weiss has gone to great lengths to

reinvent the menu incorporating a streamline

collection of local beers on tap, local and

regional wines and a full bar that serves craft

cocktails. The overall theme being Pacific

Rim meets Pacific Northwest cuisine. Dishes

feature Kobe beef as well as wild caught

steelhead. Now if it’s the bar scene you

fancy, step next door to Cylos Lounge. Here

they celebrate the entire week featuring:

Free pool on Mondays, Taco Tuesdays,

Acoustic Wednesdays, all night happy hour

on Thursdays & live music and dancing on

Friday nights. “We want to customize what we

do for Eagle,” said Weiss. We say, “Mission

accomplished Scott!”

Boise has long been dubbed the “City of Trees,” which may catch a

newcomer by surprise given the city’s high-desert climate. But a hike

into the foothills or a short drive up the road to the local ski hill makes it

abundantly clear why the nickname is more than appropriate!

While Spring and Summer make for great water recreational activities, Fall

in Boise makes for great land recreation. ‘Tis the season for hiking, biking

& many outdoor activities that weren’t as tempting or enjoyable in the

summer heat.

Boise is snuggled up along a line of foothills that stretch north and east

and serve as stepping stones into national forest and the Boise Mountain

Range. They are a playground for hikers, runners, mountain bikers

and bird watchers alike. An interconnected network of roads and trails

course through the hills, linking nature with people and public lands. The

foothills provide the city and her capitol with a picturesque backdrop

that often inspires and soothes the soul. Whether hitting the trails for a

quick workout or making a day of wild exploration, the experience is

illuminating. For further insight and information regarding the high desert

environment, plants, wildflowers and wildlife that inhabit the foothills, visit

the Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center @ 3188 Sunset Peak Rd. Boise,

83702.

Trail to Alice LakeThis breathtaking hike departs from Pettit

Lake, located at the base of the Sawtooth

Mountain Range, about 20 miles south

of Stanley. After one mile of level hiking

through sagebrush an forest, the route

enters the Sawtooth Wilderness and climbs

a narrow canyon. Over-the-shoulder

views of the Sawtooth Basin and the While

Cloud Mountains are sensational. The trail

eventually leads to the nearly one-mile long

Alice Lake, one of the most spectacular

lakes in the Sawtooth Range.

Like the foothills, the Boise Greenbelt is a recreational gem for residents

and visitors alike. The 25 mile trail of tree-lined paths run through the

heart of the city and beyond. These special paved paths follow the

Boise River with several bridges along the way, making them a powerful

alternate to traditional commuting. Visitors experience many of the

city’s popular riverside parks, scenic views and wildlife habitat. A true

bird watchers paradise as songbirds, ducks, Canada geese, great blue

heron and bald eagles are never in short demand. This peaceful conduit

provides easy access to Boise State University, downtown shops,

restaurants and hotels. Whether you’re up for a rigorous bike ride,

a light evening stroll or a day of bird watching, the Boise Greenbelt

delivers!

THE RoAD LESS TRAVELED

in idaho, taking the road less traveled is a wonderful way to explore the

state. Some Byways have historical significance, others provide access

to national attractions and outdoor recreation, yet all have extraordinary

scenic beauty. Sparkling Coeur d’ Alene and the mountains that surround

it have made northern idaho a famous outdoor playground. it is a land of

dense forest, giant aromatic cedars and wildflowers. Northern Idaho allows

for a taste of the sweetness of huckleberries, smell of fresh cut timber and

the friendliness of a relaxed countryside. Simply follow the eastern shoreline

of Lake Coeur d’ Alene along Idaho 97 to enjoy one of the most beautiful

drives in idaho. Bring your cameras & binoculars and keep an eye out for the

osprey who nest alongside the lake.

SmALL TOWN ChARm

Boise is known for its small town charm with big city options! What better way

to celebrate the fall season than spending the day at the Saturday, farmer’s

Market in downtown Boise? This open air market sits exclusively on 8th Street

and consumes 4 downtown blocks in between Main & State Street. it boasts

150 vendors in the peak of the season who feature an array of goodies and

homemade crafts. Items include: seasonal flowers, handmade jewelry, meats,

delicious baked goods, homemade jelly, locally made art and live music.

There are also food trucks ready and willing to serve up a tasty bite. Buying

local food is a great way to strengthen the local economy and support our

farming neighbors. It’s a great opportunity for consumers to meet the

producer. Open Saturday’s from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. now through

12/20/14.

our market continues to be somewhat a

mystery this year with total sales volume less

so far than 2013, but the median sales price

has increased. This means that the market

has shown some appreciation up to a certain

price point. inventory is low in certain

areas of Ada County while in other areas it

has improved. The higher end part of our

market will likely be similar to 2013 with less

than 20 homes selling above 1 million. New

construction permits continue to remain

the strongest part of our market and is only

slightly off pace from 2013. Several new

subdivisions were built this year making it

easier for buyers to find lots.
