Symetrix Radius FamilyThe Symetrix Radius products can be controlled by Mira Connect™, Aveo Systems’ smart control appliance. Mira Connect uses the controller numbers defined in your Symetrix Composer Design file for mute, volume control, and telephony control, and more.

To integrate a Symetrix Radius system with Mira Connect, follow these steps:

Create or upload a design file to the Symetrix DSP using the Symetrix Composer software.

In the Symetrix Composer software, enable ‘Push Data’ for each of the control numbers Mira Connect will use. Enable Push Data by selecting Ctrl-M from the Composer Tools menu (see menu below) and edit the controller assignment to enable “Push Value When Change Occurs”.

In Mira Portal (https://mira.aveosystems.com), add the Symetrix Radius DSP to the room and enter the IP address of the equipment and press ‘add equipment’.

If you don’t have a Symetrix DSP, you can choose to simulate the device by checking Simulate equipment and continue configuring Mira Connect.

The simulated Symetrix DSP uses a set of control numbers that match the design files in the Symetrix Composer/Designs directory: 8_Mic_RadiusAEC with ATI card.symx or 8_Mic_RadiusAEC with VoIP card.symx

In these files, the microphone mute is controller 250 and master room volume is controller 301. The telephony card is assumed to be in expansion card slot D. See the figures in step 4.

After pressing Add Equipment, Mira Connect will connect to the device and show the status of the connection and control points.

Mira Connect Integration with the Symetrix Radius Family

Enter the controller numbers from Symetrix Composer design file into Mira Portal for microphone mute, volume control, and advanced features including sound reinforcement, source switching, overflow rooms, and more. Mira Connect lists the push-enabled controller numbers to make it easier to select the correct controller numbers. Click in the field to see the list of valid controller numbers. Symetrix preset numbers must be entered manually when using presets for mute controls.

Enter Symetrix Radius keypad controller numbers into the Audio dialing section. Use the Update Keypad option when you expand the Audio dialing section of Mira Portal to easily add sequential controller numbers to Mira Portal for telephony keypads.

Confirm the Call End, Call Reject, and when using a PSTN interface, Speed Dial 20 controller numbers.

When using a simulated Symetrix system, the following control numbers are available and should be used: 101-113, 117, 118, 121, 145, 250, 251, 260-263, 301, 312, 422.

In this example, control number 250 is used for the microphone mute and 301 for the room volume control.

“Radius AEC-1” means the unit number is 1 as shown in the following figure.

If you see the ‘Edit equipment to complete additional configuration’ message, ensure push is enabled for the control points and the control points exist and match what’s in your configuration file.

Press Update Equipment once you have entered the control points.

Mira Portal will show the equipment status as a green circle if all control points are valid. If your system is not connecting, see the Troubleshooting section at the end of this document.

PSTN-specific SettingsWhen Mira Connect dials a phone number using a PSTN interface, it will use speed dial 20 to dial the appropriate line. It is important to not use Speed Dial 20 as it will be overwritten by Mira Connect.

Important note: if using the Symetrix PSTN interface, Speed Dial 20 is used by Mira Connect when dialing telephone numbers. Any phone number stored in Speed Dial 20 will be overwritten by Mira Connect.

On Mira Portal, enter the speed dial control number for Line 1 (145 in this example) or Line 2 (195 in this example). To overlay the Control point numbers in Symetrix’s Composer software, type ALT-M on your keyboard.

The default control points used for a PSTN interface are shown in the following figure and correspond to the included Symetrix ATI (analog telephony interface) card example.

See the Mira Connect Administrators Guide for more information about using Mira Portal to set up Mira Connect.

Specific information about the integration is summarized below.

Connection InterfaceNetwork connection using TCP, port 48631

If Mira Connect shows a green circle with a check mark next to the Symetrix device in Mira Portal, then Mira Connect is able to connect to the device over the network.

If a red-triangle is shown with a Connection failed message, confirm the IP address of the Symetrix device and ensure Mira Connect is on a network that has a route to the Symetrix device’s IP address.

If the message says “Edit equipment to complete additional configuration”, then proceed to step 4 on page 1.

Symetrix Control SettingsPush Data must be enabled for all controls used by Mira Connect before Mira Connect connects to the device can validate the control number.

Enable System String Pushing must be enabled in the site preferences to control the telephony interfaces and for caller ID information.

Room Volume ControlRadius volume settings range from 0 to 65535 which is typically -72dB to +12dB. Mira Connect uses the upper 50dB of this range (-38dB to +12dB) for volume control. When specifying volume controls, we recommend only using controls that range from -72dB to +12dB.

Audio Dialing ControlMira Connect supports both PSTN and VoIP telephony interfaces with one call appearance per line. Hold, split, and transfer are not supported.

PSTN dialing uses Speed Dial 20 when dialing. The contents of Speed Dial 20 will be overwritten by Mira Connect.

Quick StartTo get started quickly, use the design files in the Composer/Designs directory: 8_Mic_RadiusAEC with ATI card.symx or 8_Mic_RadiusAEC with VoIP card.symx

The controller numbers in these files are used with a simulated Symetrix Radius in Mira Portal. Microphone mute is controller 250 and master room volume is controller 301. The telephony card is assumed to be in expansion card slot D. See the figures in this guide.

To view the control numbers overlaid on your Symetrix design, use the key combination Alt-M in the Symetrix Composer software. For more options, see the Composer Tools menu.

Troubleshooting

Connection FailedIf Mira Connect is not connecting to the Symetrix system and you see the Connection failed status, follow these steps:

1. Confirm that the IP address entered into Mira Portal matches the IP address of the Symetrix device.

2. Confirm that the Symetrix device is on the same network as the Mira Connect device, or at least there is a network route between the Mira Connect and the Symetrix device.

3. Ensure the Symetrix device’s Remote Control Port settings are set to Normal for Ethernet Port (TCP).

4. Confirm the system is configured for Quiet Mode as shown in the following figure. Confirm this setting by selecting System Manager..., then press Properties..., and then press Configure Remote Control Ports. Neither Deaf Mode nor Echo Mode should be checked.

Edit Equipment to Complete Additional ConfigurationIf Mira Connect can connect to the Symetrix device, but you see the Edit equipment to complete additional configuration message:

1. Edit the Symetrix device and confirm the control points used in the Audio Settings match what is in your configuration file. Note that the unit number used on the telephony interface is shown in the Symetrix design software. See the figure earlier in this document.
