Horizontal Collector / Header Pipes PE100-RC
Used extensively in mainland Europe PE100-RC Collector pipe offers superior impact crack resistance to PE100. This product in
most soil conditions negates the use of sand bedding, saving significant material, plant and labour cost. Conductivity of the sand
versus site soil conditions must always be considered in the analysis before opting for non sand bed.
A fundamental and critical component of any efficient performing Ground Source Heat Pump System is the collector pipes
where pipe protection and longevity are paramount.
It's widely accepted in terms of good pipe laying practice that sand should be employed both below and above the pipe to
protect from sharps as even PE100 Pipe Material is vulnerable to rapid creep if point load damage occurs.
Whilst sand does offer the potential for improved thermal conductivity in poor soils it has become the default position on most
installs to lay a sand bedding as traditionally pipe needed protection from the variants of “as dug material” thereby always
adding that cost into the job in material and significant labour time.
Go Geothermal can offer you a solution, PE100-RC. Offering low notch sensitivity and superior resistance to point loading and
slow crack growth (SCG), the RC material avoids the potential for pipe tears even when point loads caused by rocks occur.
By utilising this pipe in the correct soil conditions NO sand back fill is required! This reduces capital outlay and significant labour
time and plant on site.
We are pleased to offer this product as yet another step in the improvement of the technical quality of Ground Source materials.
Horizontal Collector / Header Pipes PE-Xa
Advantages PE-Xa collector pipe:
1. Resistant to puncture loads, notches and grooves – allowing the
pipe to be backfilled with excavated material (PE 100 requires a
sand bed), therefore reduction of installation time and costs
2. Better thermal efficiency of excavated material compared to a dry
sand bed
3. Extremely tough and able to handle temperatures up to 95oC
4. Tight bending radii, therefore easier installation as less space is
required
5. High operational reliability of PE-Xa pipe
6. Minimal pressure losses due to smooth pipe inner surface

Turbulence PE100 Collector Pipes
A uniquely designed product enables a greater heat absorption capacity and lower pressure drop.
Calculated at 10% greater heat absorption this increases the COP, makes the Heat Pump more
efficient therefore reducing running costs.
Probe/Ground Loop Feeder
Hydraulic loop feeder to assist with the safe and controlled installation of 40mm borehole probes (32mm made to
order). Comes with the following benefits over traditional hand pushing installation techniques:
• Allows the safe installation without staff standing on the drilling rig or other
platforms on site (working at height).
• Saves labour by reducing the need for additional staff at the time of loop installation.
• Allows additional controlled pressure to be applied to probes when inserting into
boreholes with a drilling fluid.
• Variable speed allows controlled insertion of probes where the weight of the probe
wants to fall into an open borehole reducing probe tip damage.
• Can assist with the removal of a probe where the borehole collapsed at depth and
the borehole will require re-drilling. This protects the operative from strain.
• Can also install and remove grout lines when using a liquid grout to backfill
boreholes.
• Compatible with most geothermal drilling rigs.
• Designed for drillers by drillers.
• Saves money.
• Fully adjustable.
• Hard wearing.
• More efficient than traditional hand pushing installation technique.
Radial Drilling
Radial drilling offers the client wishing to exploit the solar energy stored in the ground but short of
space another solution.
The benefits of Stable ground temperatures are well known but often lack of land prevents the
adoption of ground Source.
Radial drilling uses a centralised chamber with a minimum site footprint sending probes out
diagonally 30-65deg typically thus avoiding space restrictions.

RAUGEO Energy Piles
Energy piles provide a cost-effective alternative to probes if the building is already including foundation piles as no extra drilling
needs to be carried out. Piles are typically between 10-20m deep, depending on site conditions. Ground-source pipework can
simply be integrated into the pile with cable ties.
PE-Xa is ideal for energy piles as the tight bending radius of PE-Xa removes the need for joints in the pile, therefore eliminating
any potential leakages.
![Page 8: T: 01388 720228 F: 0871 2214234 E: info@gogeothermal.co.uk ... · versus site soil conditions must always be considered in the analysis before opting for non sand bed. A fundamental](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022071220/605a4d673c45212ba15117bc/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)

Helix Probe
Raugeo Helix Probes PE-Xa are ideal for use in both new builds and refurbishments. They
are the optimum choice if only a small land area is available and probe drilling is not
possible, e.g. for geological reasons or if it is not financially possible.
A 5m deep hole is created with an Auger drill, into which the Helix probe is then installed
and backfilled. The distance between each probe is 3 - 4m. The specially designed PE
membrane ensures the fixed diameter of the probe facilitating even energy extraction.
High – Quality PE-Xa material means high resistance to puncture loads and elimination of
any joints due to small bending radius.
The high temp resistance of up to plus 95deg C makes a combination with solar energy possible – even retrospectively.
Making excess heat storage a reality in this increasingly required feature of new builds.
The advantages of the Raugeo Helix Probe PE-Xa:
• Use in new builds and refurbishments
• Extraction performance of up to 700 W/Helix Probe in Sandy clay (Wet)
• Simple and cost effective drilling possible
• Ideal where space is at a premium
• Defined pipe spacing and probe diameter using special PE membrane
• The high temp resistance of up to plus 95deg C makes a combination with solar energy possible – even retrospectively
The estimated outputs per Helix probe for different ground conditions are provided in the table below (based on 1800h
operating hours).

Chambers
GeoSTACK Chamber
Whilst the GeoSTACK is of a comparable cost to that of traditional methods
such as concrete or brickwork the overall project cost saving is considerable.
The chambers can be built by non-specialist labour, require no lifting
equipment on site, are at full strength from the moment of installation and
fully conform to manual handling regulations. A typical installation of a
1220x600x900mm deep chamber will take no longer than 2 hours, including
backfilling, whereas a concrete or brickwork chamber can take anything up to
4 days to complete.
Developed for quick installations, even in the most difficult location, the
GeoSTACK underground access chamber system is used by many industries
due to its immense strength, light weight, adaptability and dramatic project
cost saving.
Design
The GeoSTACK access chamber consists of four modular panels that are bolted together in each corner to form an easy to
handle, robust, 150mm deep chamber ring. A finished chamber is produced by simply stacking the rings to the required depth. You can even retrospectively increase the height of an existing installed chamber!
The ribbed structure design improves chamber performance through efficient material usage and resists both vertical and lateral
applied loads. The GeoSTACK provides a full 76mm width-bedding area for the access cover and frame as required in the
Highways Agency Design Manual for Roads and Bridges - HA104/02.
Material
GeoSTACK access chambers are manufactured in DMC (Dough Moulding Compound) and SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound),
which are a mixture of polyester resins, glass fibre and fillers. These materials are typically five times stronger than
thermoplastic alternatives and are resistant to many acids, alkalis and aggressive water and soil.
Testing
Our GeoSTACK solutions have been rigorously tested by third party UKAS accredited test facilities.

Page 20
The thermal fluids used in solar heating systems may degrade over time because of prolonged exposure to elevated
temperatures.
This degradation process, which is indicated by a darkening of the fluid, not only reduces the lifetime of the thermal fluid, but
also has the following adverse effects on the operation of the system:
• Colour changes and viscosity increases
• Thickening of the fluid and solid deposits which causes blockages
• Reduces the diameter of the pipe work
• Freezing point increases
• pH decreases
• The degraded fluid has a reduced heat transfer capability
In order to restore the efficient operation of the solar heating system it is necessary to drain the degraded thermal fluid, clean
the system to remove any sludge, deposits or blockages, and refill the system with Sentinel R100 - a thermal fluid which is
especially formulated to resist thermal degradation and so extend fluid life.
For our Solar/Heat Transfer Fluid Filling Units please see page 12.

Final Word
Some people favour geothermal grouts featuring cement. We have kept clear of this because of the risk that future ground
movement or drying out of a rigid pile of grout could lead to the double-whammy of:
a) Loss of contact between the ground formation and the grout and or the grout and the loops and hence total break of
conductivity.
b) Contaminated surface water running down the gap between the formation and the rigid pile.

Electrofusion Control Units
Our British Made ECU is a fully automatic universal electrofusion welding unit,
designed to join bar coded PE and PP pressure fittings in the range of 8v to 48v. It has
been designed with simplicity of use in mind, and its fast user interface allows fittings
to be welded quickly and reliably.
The Go Geothermal ECU is designed for use in the UK and as such does not limit the user
by “brand specific fittings use only” - many cheaper boxes particularly from Scandinavia
are chipped to only work with a sole make of fitting. The GG ECU is compatible with all
leading brands of UK and European fittings offering peace of mind when sourcing EF
fittings from a variety of sources.
The unit is built in a strong lightweight metal housing to protect it from damage. It has a
carrying handle for ease of operation and tough rubber cables that are suitable for use on
building sites. It is fully sealed and waterproof to IP65. It is suitable for use with portable
generators and is electrically protected to Class 1.
The unit has a simple button pad that allows quick navigation through the operating
menus. Information is shown on a bright four line display that can easily be read in all
lighting conditions. A range of display languages is available to allow the unit to be used
more easily throughout the world.
The unit is designed to weld Bar Code fittings up to 250mm diameter. The fitting terminal pins can be either 4.0mm or 4.7mm to
allow greater flexibility. The welding time is compensated for the ambient temperature, and fittings with voltages between 8V
and 48V can be welded. A manual weld option is available.
The unit will display fault finding and calibration information from the menu options to allow errors to be quickly diagnosed.
Programmable service intervals can be set to make sure equipment stays in good working order.
