TEAMWORK INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL CREATIVE CZECH SLOVAK SLOVENIAN HUNGARIAN TALK WITH ME The social way to learn a language MISSION The mission of the 'Talk with me'-project combines several important intentions: It supports the European strategy of Multilingualism and motivates people to learn less known and less spoken European languages:Czech, Slovak, Slovenian and Hungarian. As the countries where languages are spoken are geographically close, the project can make use of the existing cross-border relationships and common fields of interest. It uses the possibilities of state-of-the-art technology including a learn management system, Web 2.0 and 3D-virtual worlds to build an attractive setting for a creative and respectful learning process. It combines several elements of experience pedagogy and task-based learning as well as emotional and social learning with powerful information technologies and to integrate them in an immersive, engaging, user-friendly and efficient language teaching system. It addresses learners who don´t like classical languages classes, who need a distance-learning offer because of geographical or personal reasons and for whom social motivation acts as a critical factor for their learning THE SOCIAL WAY OF LEARNING Many people may have doubts about “what is social about virtual reality and on-line courses”. We would like to stress the importance of the latest research results from the field of cyber psychology. It shows the significantly growing importance of on-line communication and networks for children and teenagers. The virtual 3D-environments allow to overcome the loneliness of traditional e-learning, because they create the authentic emotional experience of being part of a group, of social networks. The e-learning course acts as a setting place and a reposi- tory for information and feedback. The learners in our course really meet in real though virtual classes. They can speak, write, make jokes or even flirt or not to pay attention to the teacher. The virtual space makes it possible to overcome geographi- cal frontiers and distances. One can meet interesting people one would hardly meet in the real world. THE COURSE PROGRESS Realization of such a language course consists of several phases: 1. Acquisition of the learners. 2. Introduction in the approach, technology and pedagogical method. 3. Forming of couples of teams according to the various fields of interest. 4. Creating interesting projects with missions that are in accord with the course content and which help the learners to get oriented in the language, in the country and corresponding socio-cultural background and first of all to establish relationships with the natives. 5. Transition of the common projects from the “second life” into the “first life” meeting the natives or other international team colleagues in reality. TARGET GROUP I: People who are interested in central and eastern European languages namly Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Slovenian. II: People who have moved to one of those four countries, who need to learn the basic level of the language as quickly as possible and who for various reasons cannot attend courses at common language schools. III: The 'Talk with me' platform is a great opportunity for people who know they are going to live in one of the four countries and who want to get prepared in advance and to learn the basic level of the language one year ahead. TALK WITH METhe social way to learn a language

MISSIONThe mission of the 'Talk with me'-project combines several important intentions:

It supports the European strategy of Multilingualism and motivates people to learn less known and less spoken European languages:Czech, Slovak, Slovenian and Hungarian. As the countries where languages are spoken are geographically close, the project can make use of the existing cross-border relationships and common elds of interest.

It uses the possibilities of state-of-the-art technology including a learn management system, Web 2.0 and 3D-virtual worlds to build an attractive setting for a creative and respectful learning process.

It combines several elements of experience pedagogy and task-based learning as well as emotional and social learning with powerful information technologies and to integrate them in an immersive, engaging, user-friendly and ecient language teaching system.

It addresses learners who don´t like classical languages classes, who need a distance-learning oer because of geographical or personal reasons and for whom social motivation acts as a critical factor for their learning

THE SOCIAL WAY OF LEARNINGMany people may have doubts about “what is social about virtual reality and on-line courses”. We would like to stress the importance of the latest research results from the eld of cyber psychology. It shows the signicantly growing importance of on-line communication and networks for children and teenagers.

The virtual 3D-environments allow to overcome the loneliness of traditional e-learning, because they create the authentic emotional experience of being part of a group, of social networks. The e-learning course acts as a setting place and a reposi-tory for information and feedback. The learners in our course really meet in real though virtual classes. They can speak, write, make jokes or even irt or not to pay attention to the teacher. The virtual space makes it possible to overcome geographi-cal frontiers and distances. One can meet interesting people one would hardly meet in the real world.

THE COURSE PROGRESS Realization of such a language course consists of several phases:1. Acquisition of the learners.2. Introduction in the approach, technology and pedagogical method.3. Forming of couples of teams according to the various elds of interest.4. Creating interesting projects with missions that are in accord with the course content and which help the learners to get oriented in the language, in the country and corresponding socio-cultural background and rst of all to establish relationships with the natives.5. Transition of the common projects from the “second life” into the “rst life” meeting the natives or other international team colleagues in reality.

TARGET GROUP I:People who are interested in central and eastern European languages namly Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Slovenian.

II:People who have moved to one of those four countries, who need to learn the basic level of the language as quickly as possible and who for various reasons cannot attend courses at common language schools.

III: The 'Talk with me' platform is a great opportunity for people who know they are going to live in one of the four countries and who want to get prepared in advance and to learn the basic level of the language one year ahead.

IV:People who need skills in Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Slovenian because they want to improve their qualication for the labour market or do already need it in their jobs.

The topics of the 30 basic lessons have been selected carefully in order to be useful and interesting for a wide target group regardless the purpose of staying, age, status or gender.
