In the world of manufacturing today, theliability of shipping a defective part can becatastrophic for you, your customer, and theconsumer. Resonant Acoustic Method NDT(RAM NDT) is designed to help you deliverfully inspected parts, economically and ontime, giving you and your customer confidence in the quality of your parts.
The principle of Resonant Inspection is simple: every part has a unique resonantsignature or pattern that reflects its structural integrity. A deviation from theexpected signature or pattern can indicate the presence of a flaw. For example, a bell with a crack
no longer has a clear ring or the ability to holdits tone.
The resonances of a structure are defined by itsmass, stiffness and damping. These resonantfrequencies can be measured in most rigidmaterials including most metals, ceramics, andcomposites. NDT-RAM systems detect frequency shifts which can be caused byimperfections such as cracks, porosity andvoids, as well as variances in nodularity,dimension, geometry, weight, density andmanufacturing processes.
