It is a very adaptable building with a variety of attractive spaces. For enquiries about hiring the Headgate, please email: [email protected] or telephone (01206) 530257 THE AUDITORIUM With air conditioning, the auditorium can be hired as a flexible performing space and productions can be mounted in a variety of ways. It is also available with its raised seating and comfortable chairs for meetings and conferences. THE HERVEY BENHAM REHEARSAL STUDIO This is a large airy room on the first floor providing an excellent space for a variety of activities from rehearsals to classes, from play readings to practices. It will appeal to actors, musicians, dancers and those with less energetic activities. THE BAR Our licensed bar is open before and after most performances. Why not arrive early, enjoy a relaxing drink (coffee is also served) and place your order for the interval? T H E A T R E The Headgate Theatre is administered by Theatre Arts Action Trust Reg. Charity No. 1076399 CONCESSIONS: For its own productions The Headgate Theatre offers concessionary ticket prices to customers over the age of 65, students (with ID) and children under the age of 16. Other groups producing events at the Headgate may have their own concessionary ticket prices so please check when booking. REFUNDS: Are not normally available except when an event is full and tickets can be re-sold. A £2 transaction charge will be made if a resale is possible. EXCHANGES: May be made solely for the same production subject to availability and reasonable notice being given. RESERVATIONS: Tickets may be held on reservation for up to 48 hours in certain circumstances and at the management’s discretion. CAR PARKING At the same time as you book your tickets you can now add a ticket for one of Colchester’s car parks. (At time of printing which one has not been finalised).Tickets are £1.50 and should be displayed on your dashboard. Parking tickets are date specific and you can enter the car park any time after 9am. Please note that the car park closes at midnight. VOLUNTEERS The Headgate Theatre could not operate without a dedicated and committed team of volunteers. Headgate Theatre Productions plan to put on at least four plays per year, in addition to the annual pantomime, and we also provide front of house support for other hiring groups. headGaTe TheaTre produCTionsSet in 1964, Be My Baby follows the fortunes of Mary Adams, 19, a respectable girl from a nice middle-class background, in love with her medical student boyfriend – and seven months pregnant. A stay at St. Saviour’s mother and baby home is arranged and the baby quietly adopted. In the oppressive atmosphere of the home Mary bonds with her fellow ‘inmates’. Her Dansette record player is always at hand as the girls escape into a fantasy of romance with their favourite songs. Based on fact, Be My Baby is brimming with humour, heartache and the music of the Sixties. Some language in Be My Baby may offend. Suitable for age 11 and above.tickets: £13, £11 (conc)

There will be a free presentation to an invited audience on the last day – and a few circus skills to be seen maybe!! The application form can be downloaded from our website or obtained from the theatre, but payment can only be made in person or by telephone at the Box Office. His only hope is a daring swoop by that dashing master of disguise and echo-location, The Scarlet Pipistrelle, who has already undertaken several rescues of aristocrats.
