PASTOR’S LETTER

Dear Parishioners,

We bring you updates, based upon Diocesan Directives on pastoral life, following the Governor’s Executive Order (that took effect on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at 8:00 P.M.), which bans all forms of gathering, in order to effect social distancing, with the aim of curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.Consequently, you are kindly notified of the following:1. No liturgies (weekday and weekend Masses) are

permitted until further notice, including funerals, weddings, baptisms, and other paraliturgical meetings of groups of people.

2. Sacraments such as Anointing of the Sick, Viaticum, and burial services, will be celebrated in emergencies.

3. Confessions will also be heard, if it is urgently needed. Please, call: 516-785-2333.

4. The church will remain open daily, from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., for private prayer. However, we advise that parishioners observe safe distance from one another (at least 6 feet apart). Please, use the Weekday entrance (side doors) to access the church.

5. On Monday afternoons (1:00 - 4:00 P.M.), the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed on the Main Altar of the church for individual private adoration.

6. Although ALL liturgies are suspended, Private Masses will be celebrated daily for everyone. Parishioners are assured that their Intentions will be reverently prayed for and their loved ones will duly be remembered during the private celebrations of the Eucharist.

7. We shall live-stream on Facebook, for your participation from home, the Friday Stations of the Cross (7:30 P.M.), and the following three weekend Masses: Saturday 4:00 P.M., and Sunday 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 noon. Check the links on the Parish Website as well.

8. We shall also bring to your homes, through the same media, all the liturgies of the Sacred Triduum, namely, The Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, at 8:00 P.M., The Passion Service on Good Friday, at 3:00 P.M., The Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, at 8:00 P.M., and Easter Sunday Masses, at 10:00 A.M. & 12:00 noon.

9. For our convenience and safety, the church will be cleaned and disinfected weekly. During those hours (Tuesdays 12:00 – 3:00 P.M.), the church will be closed.

10. The Pastoral Center and Private Chapel are closed to parishioaners until further notice. Consequently, there will be no devotions or adoration in that Chapel during this period of “Total ban on social and religious gatherings.”

11. Bins are placed in front of the Pastoral Center and in the church as drop-off receptacles for your weekly offering envelopes and supplies for the food pantry.

12. Parishioners who cannot join our parish liturgies on Facebook are encouraged to tune in to the Catholic Faith Network (CFN) to participate in the liturgies via TV network (Optimum channel 29/137, Verizon FiOS channel 296, and Spectrum channel 162/471).

13. In the meanwhile, let us obediently observe all the precautions and stay safe and healthy.

These are certainly challenging times for all of us. With no concrete cure in sight, let us continually pray for Divine intervention that the scourge of the coronavirus may soon be eradicated from the world. May Mary, our Blessed Mother, intercede for us with her son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to heal all the afflicted, and gather those who have died into the eternal kingdom.

Fr. Seth.

Blessings and Peace to the parish family of St Frances de Chantal

Please remember that, although we are being asked to distance ourselves, physically, from each other, we are joined, deeply in faith, and remain in prayerful spiritual communion as a parish family while apart. We humbly ask, your circumstances permitting, that you consider continuing your financial support of our parish. With the suspension of our regular offertory collections, costs associated with managing the parish, such as heat, maintenance and safety, continue to grow. May God bless you while prayerfully considering your donation options.

➢ Mail donation envelopes directly to the parish. ➢ Drop off your donation envelope into one of the mail drop boxes located at the

front doors of the Pastoral Center or in the Church. ➢ Consider contacting your own bank and ask for an electronic check to be sent

to us directly. Have the check made out to St. Frances de Chantal. ➢ Use our Parish Online donation system & set up recurring or one-time

Weekly Offertory and Easter Gift. (visual reference below) ➢ If you are still unsure of our Donate Online system or are unable to complete this on

your own, please call our parish business office and we will assist you over the phone with setting up your personal online offertory account. Please call today (516)785-2333 ext 203 or ext 202. Leave your name and telephone number and best time to reach you. Even though our parish offices are closed we are working from home to help you and would love hearing from you.

Our Online donation system benefits our parish in so many ways. Please give it a try or call us to help. Log on to our Parish Website: www.saintjanefrances.org

Then simply click on heart and hands logo and automatically it will take you to a choice of our current online giving opportunities to make a recurring or one time donation.

A Note from St. Frances Faith Formation Office“Let’s follow the Woman of the Word of God and the Woman of the Eucharist in her bold and decisive “yes” to the will of God and the power of the Cross of Jesus Christ. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us!” Bishop John Barres 03/25/2020 (fragment of homily)

Dear Parents, March 25, 2020

In this difficult and challenging time of the coronavirus our Faith Formation Office would like to assure you by offering our spiritual support and prayer.

Mass and prayer We encourage all students and parents to continue to pray and participate in televised Mass.

You can watch Masses online and find time schedule on our diocese website www.drvc.org. Our parish also offers online Masses on Sunday and Stations of the Cross on Friday via parish Facebook. Dear Young people, please help those in your family who are less involved in technology and help them to watch our livestreaming spiritual services.

Following the voice of the Church we encourage all parishioners to pray the rosary daily, as Holy Father Pope Francis encourages us: “The prayer of the rosary is the prayer of the humble and of the saints who, through its mysteries, contemplate with Mary the life of Jesus, [who is] the merciful face of the Father. How much we all need to be truly consoled, to feel ourselves surrounded by the presence of his love.”

Faith Formation Program Parents and students please follow syllabus/lesson guide which you received at the beginning

of the instructional year and as you use normally for when there are sick or snow days. Please try to see this as an opportunity to grow in faith as a family, rather than making it an additional burden in this time of online school requirements, employment/ income and public health concerns along with our many other challenges.

Level 1-please complete chapter work from chapter 20-25 in your textbook; and level 6-7 please follow the calendar until end of April. (Additional email was sent to clarify how to accomplish in your journal).

We will try to meet online with students of level 6 & 7 via our Facebook Faith Formation. We will send you a text message with date and time, but please follow all announcements also on the website and Facebook because the text messages are not always reaching everyone.

We will keep the same date for early re-registration as May 31st. You may send your registration form via mail to our parish office attention Faith Formation with checks made out to St. Frances de Chantal.

Please contact us via email or phone and please do not hesitate if you have any questions or concerns or simply would like to share or talk. We will be checking in from home for the time being.
