bility rules, criteria include: excellent scholarship (top 15% of the class), genuine financial need, evidence of some form of “Service Above Self” in their personal and/or student lives.

New Paul Harris Fellowships and Level-Ups

On March 8, we recognized Charles Henington who re-

ceived his PHF+1 lapel pin. Charlie is the tax assessor for

Caddo Parish Tax Assessor’s office having first been elected

in 2001. He has worked for the Tax Assessor’s office since

1986. A graduate of LA Tech, Charlie has served as past

president of the Louisiana Assessor’s Association.

Charlie joined the club in December 2000 and was sponsored

by Judge James Clark. He served as a club director in 2004-

2005 and has

served on the

Sgt at Arms

Committee for

many years

working the

registration table at meetings. He’s also been involved in

the Dragon Boat Committee in whatever way he is needed.

After receiving his new pin, Charlie asked his wife Angie to

join him at the podium and he then surprised her with a new

Paul Harris Fellowship. What a great way to share Rotary!

The Amazing Shake

Last Tuesday’s presentation by Billy Snow of the Caddo Parish School

Board was a jewel! He spoke of the Amazing Shake competition among

the Transformation Zone schools. This yearlong competition, among its

many components, provides training to the students in social etiquette

skills such as handshakes, eye contact, public speaking and

more. Guess who the guru is who is helping Billy Snow with

the social etiquette portion. Our very own Erica Thomas,

owner of AdPro Promotions and Advertising. WTG, Erica!

Zone schools. Rotarian Erica Thomas has helped the schools with this project.

Next up to the podium on March 8 was Tom

Arceneaux who received his PHF+7 pin.

Tom received his B.S. from LSU Baton Rouge

and his J.D. from LSU Law Center. He served

on the Shreveport City Council from 1982-

1990. In 2003 he joined the Blanchard Walker

Law firm. Tom has served on many commu-

nity boards (too many to even list).

In 1994 he was sponsored by Jay Murrell as a

new member in the club. After serving as a

club director in 2000-2001 he rose in the ex-

ecutive ranks to serve as club president in

2007-2008. Tom has served on almost every

committee in the club and also served Rotary

District 6190 as Foundation Chair 2009-2012.

After he received his new pin, Tom invited Rotarian Alan English to join him and he then surprised Alan

with a new Paul Harris Fellowship.

Alan English first joined the club in 2004. Fol-

lowing that, as he relocated with his career, he al-

ways joined a Rotary club first in Augusta, GA

and then in Conway, AR. He returned to Shreve-

port and rejoined the club in 2014. Alan serves as

President and Publisher of Times Media, The

Times.
