Prayer Intentions Sick: All who are ill of body, mind or soul. All those suffering from or anxious about Coronavirus and those in the front-line of care (Nurses, Doctors, Hospital staff, Carers etc). Recently Deceased: Fr Gilmour Ommer, the victims of the Beruit explosion Anniversaries: Margaret Kennedy, Margaret Cairns, Edward Jamieson, Paddy Kellet, Ann Waite, Mary Farmer, Conner Hainan, Alfie Maxwell Parish Website: visit it by clicking on this link or typing into your web-browser (safari/chrome/ edge) www.rcgarnockvalley.org.uk On it you will find the weekly bulletin, details on how to book a place at Mass, links to live Masses & other faith resources. Pastoral Provision: Pastoral care is still restricted in Hospitals & Care homes to emergencies only. Visits to the sick & housebound will be resumed in negotiation with individuals and/or their families/carers in the coming weeks. Emergency Norms on the “Last Rites” during the Pandemic: the emergency norms approved by Pope Francis remain in place especially for those who may yet contract the virus in an institutional setting (hospital, care home etc.) where access may be limited. While the indulgences remain open to all the faithful, it should be possible to administer Anointing and the related sacraments in the community, should someone fall seriously ill. Attendance at Mass: If you wish to attend Mass you must book in advance. Please use the website to request a booking when it opens from Tuesday 9am to Thursday 12noon each week. If you aren’t online yourself please get someone to book for you using the website if at all possible - entering your name/contact details but their email address for the confirmation to go to. For those with no internet access, please call the parish landline between 10am-12noon ONLY on Thursday to request a place. Everyone will be notified by close of business on Friday whether or not they have a place (unsuccessful requests on any given weekend will be given preference for Masses the following weekend, if the person re-applies). Please remember to bring a face mask/ covering with you and aim to arrive 10 mins before the start time so people can be seated in good order. You may have to queue in a socially-distanced manner to get in, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Due to our limited capacity in all 3 churches, no-one should worry about not being able to get to Church every weekend. The Bishops have made it clear that the Sunday obligation to attend Mass is suspended during the Pandemic - if you can’t get to Mass please make sure you say some extra prayers and/or follow a live-streamed/TV Mass to keep Sunday special. None of this is ideal, but its the best we can manage in the current circumstances. Feast of the Assumption: this year the Feast of Our Lady’s Assumption is transferred from its usual date (15th) to next Sunday (16th) instead. All weekend Masses will use the Liturgy for the Assumption. Beruit Explosion: you will have seen the horrific images from the warehouse explosion in Beruit. Aid to the Church in Need is already present on the ground in Beruit and immediately mobilised nearly a quarter of a million pounds in emergency aid. Please consider supporting their emergency appeal to cover this and meet recovery funding for the devastated communities there at www.acnuk.org School re-start: after almost 5 months, the children will be resuming school over the next week or so. Please pray for them and their teachers and support staff that they can resume their learning well and that everyone can be kept safe & flourishing in our schools. Volunteers: at present we need more volunteers to help with the Church cleaning, as we have to wipe down & disinfect all surfaces following every use of the building. If you can help at all, even some of the time, as we cope with these tougher but necessary rules during the pandemic, please speak to Fr. Mark. Thanks. Fr.
