Dr. Chris Winslow coordinates Ohio Sea Grant’s Great Lakes research with agencies and universities, as well as assists in research, and curriculum development. Dr. Winslow also does student recruitment at The Ohio State University’s Stone Laboratory. Chris earned his doctorate at Bowling Green State University, with research focusing on interaction between the native smallmouth bass and invasive round goby. Dr. Winslow studied the behavioral differences between largemouth and smallmouth bass to earn his master’s degree from BGSU, and he received his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Ohio University. As an Instructor at BGSU from 2002 – 2009 and an Assistant Professor at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Winslow taught general biology courses to more than 700 students. For the past seven years, Winslow has been a fixture at Stone Laboratory, teaching Aquatic Ecology classes to high school and college students. He also mentors college students and their Lake Erie research projects in the lab’s Research Experience for Undergraduates Scholarship Program. Chris lives in Clintonville, Ohio nearby the Ohio State Campus in Columbus with his wife Kimberly. Kim also works at The Ohio State University for the Knowledge Exchange (KX). They have two wonderful young children, Lucy and Elliot. The Rotary Club of Toledo offers two types of grants: Traditional and Transformational. Traditional grants aremost common and are awarded in three cylces. Deadlines for Traditional grants are July 31st, Oct. 31st, andMarch 31st. Since Transformational grants are awarded less often, contact the Rotary Office before applying tosee if the Rotary Foundation will be funding any new transformational projects for the upcoming year. To applyfor a grant visit the Rotary website at toledorotary.org and click on the drop down box "how we help", then select"grants" to be directed to detailed grant guidelines and application information. You can click here to be directlylinked to the application that is submitted through the Toledo Community Foundation.

Transformational Project Grants:A Transformational Project is one that: Affects abroad sector of the community (local, regional or global); hasthe overwhelming support of the Rotary Club of Toledo and has been designated and approved by the ClubBoard and Foundation Trustees; is likely to be a multi-year commitment and has sustainable goal of making asignificant, long-term, positive impact.

Traditional Grants: Traditional grants are the most common grants funded, and typically each year the Toledo Rotary Club Foundationfunds approximately $200,000 in grants. The Toledo Rotary Club Foundation funds grants exclusively to nonprofit,501(c)3 tax-exempt organizations.

Monday July 13th, the Rotary Club of Toledo had the Changing of the Guard to introduce2020 - 2021 Rotary Club of Toledo President, Alexander H. Due. In addition, the 2020-2021 Board of Directors and Foundation Trustees were announced. PP Tim Ryan did agreat job passing the Rotary soccerball to new President Alex seemlessly - and it wasofficial! We were fortunate to have President Alex's family join our meeting via Zoom andhis parents even shared his high school graduation picture for all to see! We welcomeour new leadership and look forward to a wonderful Rotary year of service. Thank you toall who volunteer to make a difference in our community through Rotary.
