Make a too-big t-shirt into a halter top or dress!

This super-quick refashion requires only a t-shirt and thread. So dig through your old tees and have fun making new creations!

Example shown is an adult size small t-shirt made into a halter dress that fits a size 5 little girl.

Back1. Fold the back top edge

twice to the wrong side: 1” and then another 1”.

2. Pin and stitch close to the inside fold.

Strap1. Cut the 2” tube in half,

making one long strip.2. Fold in half lengthwise right

sides together and stitch with a 1/8” seam allowance.

3. Turn right side out, using a safety pin. Press.

1. Cut off both sleeves; discard.

2. Cut off top of shirt; discard.3. Cut 2 inches off bottom of

shirt. This will be the strap.

Front - Gather1. Sew a gathering stitch on

the marked line. A single basting stitch works great.

2. Pull the gathering stitch to equal half the length of the top edge.

Front - Mark1. Mark a dot in the center of

the shirt front 1 1/2” from the top edge.

2. Draw two lines connecting the dot to the top corners.

3. Make note of the length of the top edge.

Front - Strap1. Center the strap on top of

the gathering stitch and pin in place.

2. Stitch the strap to the shirt, close to the edges.

Sides1. Turn wrong side out and

smooth shirt flat.2. With a ruler, draw a line

connecting the bottom corner to the point where the top meets the front. Repeat for other side.

3. Pin in place and stitch along these lines. Cut a 1/2” seam allowance.
