It was a double celebration for Keith and Reeda Massey as the two observed their 60th birthdays with family and friends at a surprise party on Jan. 20. The celebration was held at The Depot in Dobson.

A mere six days apart in age, the couple has been mar-ried for 40 years and were hon-ored in April of last year with an anniversary celebration. They have two children, Jason Massey and Sarah Massey Ha-zel and one grandson, Keaton Massey. They are expecting a granddaughter, Callie Eliza-beth Hazel in May.

Keith and Reeda are involved in their church and also enjoy Bluegrass music and camping.

Scout Sunday is traditionally celebrated the first Sunday of February. First Baptist Church of Mount Airy observed Scout Sunday Feb. 12 with a processional of Scouts, Cub Scouts, leaders, and families of Troop 538 and Pack 538. The group was recognized by pastor Dr. Roger Gilbert. Two scouts, Jack McCluskey and Matthew Dowell read scriptures during the worship service. A recessional of scouts concluded the service. A covered dish luncheon was enjoyed by the troop in the fellowship hall.
