    The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the"Commission") requests thatthe U.S. Departmentof State (DoSor the"respondent") provide the Commission with thefollowingdocuments nolater than December31, 2003 (the "productiondate"):

    T he National C ommissionon Terrorist Attacks Uponthe U nited States(the "Commission") requests thatthe Department of State (DO Sor the "respondent")provide the C ommission with copiesof the following itemsno later than July16,2003 (the "productiondate"). The Commission requests thatthe respondent informthe Commission promptlyif the production dateposes a problem for certaincategories of documents and meet promptly withthe Commission staff to set aschedule for the production of those documents.

    privilegeor for any other reason, the C omm ission requests th at the respondent, as soon as possible and in noevent later than the production date, identify and describe each such item s orclass of documen ts, as well asthe alleged basisfor notproducingit, with sufficient specificityto allow a mean ingful challengeto anysuchwithholding.

    If the responde nt doesnot have possession, custodyor controlof any requested itemsbut hasinformation-about where such items m ay be located, the C omm ission requests that the respondent provide such

    iformation as soon as possible and in noevent laterthan the production date.
