Tyrrell Cluster Athletics Sports Our students enjoyed a sunny yet cool day at the annual Tyrrell Cluster Athletics Sports in Sea Lake last Thursday. All of our students are to be commended on their positive have-a-go attitudes and for displaying terrific sportsmanship on the day. Congratulations to Geoffrey Box for scoring 23 points out of a possible 24 points– we are all very proud of your achievements Geoffrey! Thank you to each and every one of our parent helpers for assisting our staff and students throughout the day. Without your help the day would not have been possible.

Nexus Arts @ Tyrrell College A reminder that our next Nexus Arts performance will be held at Tyrrell College this coming Monday 5th September. If you have not paid for these excursions in your School Fees, can you please ensure pay-ment of $10 per child prior to the date. Students who have not paid for this excursion will not be eligible to attend the performance.
Resource Smart Schools We had another visit from our Resource Smart Schools (RSS) facilitator Paul on Monday to assist us in our efforts to become more efficient in our resources. So far we have reached ‘One Star’ status and for our size we are ahead of other schools according to the baseline figure on our stats page at www.resourcesmartschools.vic.gov.au. Our energy use has reduced by 20%, water cost/usage has been halved, paper usage has been reduced by 2/3 and our landfill has reduced by around 15%. All this from starting in January 2014!!! We have completed two RSS Modules and were expecting our second star sticker to arrive earlier this term but the Certifiers in Sustainability Victoria in Melbourne haven't approved it. Paul got onto the phone and gave them a country "Wake Up" call and has been assured it is "in the mail". Our next module is ‘Waste’ and students have been learning about the different types of rubbish there are and what happens to it once it leaves our front gate. Ask your child how to save money at home from what they have learnt at school and see the savings. Much thanks Paul for all of your hard work!
Messenger Dogs– Tales of WW1 We have been invited to Tempy Primary School next Friday 9th September to attend a puppet show titled ‘Messenger Dogs– Tales of WW1’. The performance is being shown throughout the sate as part of the An-zac Centenary commemorations. The show is tailored for students from Prep to Grade 6 and will deliver stories of courage, determination and mateship. The show is free of charge for all of our students. The stu-dents, along with Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Wight, will be travelling by school bus for the performance. We will be returning to school prior to lunchtime that day.

Presidents Report 1st September
It is hard to believe Term 3 is nearing an end with just over 2 weeks remaining of this Term. It has been a while since we held our last official Parents and Friends meeting, however members of Parents & Friends have been busy planning and attending Flower Show Meetings over the last two terms. Our next Flower Show meeting is Monday 5
th September at 9.30am at the hall
which will most likely be our last official meeting with the CWA before the Flower Show on the 20
th October. All members of
Parents and Friends are welcome to attend. During Term 2, we received payment for our catering efforts from the Women On Farms Gathering at Hopetoun during Mach. Parents and Friends supplied lunch packs for this event which enable us to raise over $800. I would like to acknowledge Helen Ballentine, Prue McCredden and the WOFG committee for providing us with the opportunity to raise funds. Parents and Friends are appreciative of the WOFG committee for thinking of small groups / communities and supporting our school. Thank you to our school families who also assisted with this event. Our fundraising efforts have been scaled down this year due to events such as the Ferret Frenzy not running and Yarriambiack Community Meeting scheduled for the school holidays. Thank you to school families who continue to volunteer their time to mow and attend to the school grounds, we appreciate your support.
Products from the “Our Town” range continue to sell and have proved to be a successful fundraiser for our organisation. Our next major event is the Woomelang
Flower Show, we require as many school
families as possible to become involved with
this event. The Flower Show is an important
as it provides an opportunity for our children to
interact and develop an awareness of the
community in which they live.
As we move closer into Term 4, Parents and
Friend will begin circulating rosters and raffle
tickets in preparation for the Flower Show. We
will be seeking donations of time and food for
this event and I thank families in advance for
their support to this event.

Each school family will receive a letter today in
regards to planning he Woomelang Flower
Show.
It would be appreciated if each family could
please complete the form on this letter and
return to school as soon as possible. It is
important that we receive a response from
each family as it assists with the planning and
preparation of the Flower Show.
If you do not receive a copy of this letter,
please contact the school.
