Quick Start GuideCongratulations on your purchase of theTransAccess 200. This Quick Start
Guide describes the steps necessary to
unpack, install, and initialize your new
equipment. It is strongly recommended
that you read this entire document beforeproceeding.

Match the holes in the mounting ears tothe tapped holes in the relay rack.Attach theshelf to
the rack. Be sure to mount the equipment so that it
matches the mounting space boundaries
on the rack. All 4 holes must line up.
Use #12-24 screws.

Install the airbaffle(s)
(Optional).
Install air baffles if
airflow would
otherwise berestricted.
The baffle mountingears may already be attached.
For offset mounting reverse the ears.
The tray of the baffle must be slanted up towards the rear.
Match the holes in the air baffle with the tapped holes in the relay rack directlybelow the installed shelf.
Use #12-24 screws.
Note: An air baffle may not be required if there is appropriate vent space.

Note that the TransAccess 200 may be
shipped with two or more RedundancyInterface Modules (RIMs) already
installed.
Install the
RedundancyInterface
Module(s)(RIMs).
Install RIMs in the appropriate slots on
the back of the TransAccess 200 shelf.
One OUT RIM and one IN RIM arerequired per Service Module pair. Note
the keying feature.
Firmly insert the RIM into the shelf until it is fully engaged. Secure each RIM with
the screws provided.

Step 2
Install Office Wiring
A
Connect OfficeBattery.
Connect "A" and/or "B" -48V to J33 on therear of the TransAccess 200 shelf. (Refer to
Section 2.5 in the Operations Manual for pinouts.
Connect corresponding ground connections to
J33 also.
Use up to 12 gauge wire (14 gauge
recommended).
Do not turn the power on.
B
Connect Minor and Major alarms to J32 on the
rear of the TransAccess 200 shelf.Connect Office
Alarms.
Use up to 18 gauge wire.
Common, Normally-open, and Normally-
closed contacts are provided.
See Section 2.5 of the Operations Manual for
more details.

Turin Networks PM13/PM13E
IN/OUT cables (part number 815-00064-XXX).
ConnectPM13/PM13E

Connect T3/STS-1/AU3 connections
using Turin Networks coax cableassembly (part number 815-00033-
XXX).

815-00082-XXX).
Note: Installing aTerminal RIM Set (part
numbers 820-00082-001, 810-00072-001/002, 810-00073-001) eliminates the need
for external coaxial cable connections to the PM13/PM13E Modules.

Step 3
Install Modules
A
Install MPUModules.
Install one or two (for redundancyoperation) MPU Modules into the left-
most slots of the TransAccess 200 shelf.
Each module must fully engage with theconnector in the backplane. Tighten the
thumbscrew on the front of the MPU
Module.
Note: Modules may be pre-installed in the
TransAccess 200 at the factory.

Install up to 14 Service Modules into the
slots adjacent to the MPU Modules.Install Service
Modules.
The Service Modules must be installed inthe appropriate slots to match the
Redundancy Interface Modules
configurations at the rear.
Each module must fully engage with the
connector in the backplane. Tighten thethumbscrew on the front of each module.
Note: Modules may be pre-installed in the TransAccess 200 shelf at the factory.

ConnectOpticalCables
Connect two optical cables
to each OMX3 Module.Be very gentle whensliding in the connectors.
Note: Eye Protection isrecommended in areas
near fiber optic equipment.
To avoid possible eye damage, connect the fiber cables to the OMX3 modules prior
to inserting them into the shelf. Do not remove optical cables while the OMX3module is plugged into the shelf.

Step 4
Power-up & Initialize the shelf
A
Power-up theTransAccess
200 shelf.
Turn on "A" and/or "B" Battery by
throwing the appropriate switch or
inserting the appropriate fuse at the
Distribution Fuse Panel.
After the MPU status LED turnsgreen, momentarily (less than 1
second) press the Lamp Test button on
either MPU Module. The LED on
each module in the shelf should illuminate.

Connect theUser InterfaceDevice (UID).
Connect the User Interface
Device (UID) (customer-supplied PC or Terminal) to the
User System Interface (USI) port
on the MPU Module.
Note: the UID may be connected
to either MPU Module.
Use Turin Networks cable 815-
00011-XXX.

Launch theterminalprogram on
the UID.
Start a VT100 terminal program.(Settings are VT100 emulation,
Data Bits = 8, Parity = none, Stop
Bit = 1, Flow Control = none, BaudRate = 1200 up to 115,200)
Press "Enter" twice to initiate
communications with theTransAccess 200.
Enter the password at the Login prompt (default is "admin" to login).

Select "System" at the top-levelmenu.
"Discover"the node
configuration. Select "Discover" in the drop-down
menu.
Type "y" to confirm your choice
and press "Enter".

Select "MPU" at the top-level
menu..
Select "IP/SNMP Config" in the
drop-down menu.
Set the IP
Address andgateway for
Telnet/SNMPO eration
Move the cursor to the IP and
Gateway locations and enter the
address. ^S to save.

.Configurethe moduleoptions.
From the Main Menu, select "Service Module", then "PM13/PM13E" or "OMX3".
Under "PM13/PM13E" for example, select "Configuration" and "Line".
Configure the "Line" settings as required. Change the default template to alter the
default configuration.
Press the "Tab" key to
switch to the Dropconfiguration.
An LBO setting of "0" takes a T1 out of service. All 28 T1's are disabled by default.
Note: Defaultconfiguration settings areloaded when the
TransAccess 200 is
initially powered up. Youonly need to change those
configuration parameters
that will not remain at the
default settings.

Connect appropriate test set(s) to the OC3/STM-1,T3/STS-1/AU3, and T1/E1 facilities connections.Verify integrityof the circuits.
Verify error-free transmission through eachTransAccess 200 service module.
If errors occur, check the configuration
(especially LBO settings) and retest.
