San Pedro Street, downtown San Jose Appropriate for all levels and capabilities of movement; ages 16 and up. For creative individuals who want to develop and deepen their artistic practice, Nurture Your Creative Muse workshops integrate restorative yoga and creative writing to access pathways to the imagination. These workshops are appropriate for all levels and capabilities of movement, ages 16 and up. Whether you’re a journaler, journalist, novelist, lyricist, playwright, poet, actor, or storyteller of any kind, whether you’re seeking a new spark of inspiration or a breakthrough from writer’s block, this opportunity to explore your muse through restorative yoga may be a key to unlocking new ways of wordsmithing and/or deepening your connection to your craft. Alternating between restorative yoga asanas (poses) and writing opportunities encouraged by prompts, you will deepen your physical and mental vitality, ignite your imagination, and develop an attentive awareness between mind, body, and spirit that will refocus your physical, intellectual, and inspirational energies. What to bring: yoga mat, bath/beach towel, eye pillow/small hand towel, notebook, pen/pencil, your imagination and desire to embrace a new experience MORNING SESSION Saturday, July 9: 9am – 12 noon Enrollment limited to 12 people Awaken Your Muse Beginning with setting a personal intention or affirmation for the morning, your muse will be awakened through gentle guided asanas to release muscles and promote balance (literally and figuratively) that alternate with and serve as springboards for quiet exploration of thoughts, sights, and sounds through syllables and words. We close the workshop with pranayama practice of breath awareness and visualization to encourage mindfulness and ability to take the morning’s practice into one’s daily creative life. The opportunity to continue the work is available by taking the afternoon workshop: “Explore Your Muse”. AFTERNOON SESSION Saturday, July 9: 1pm – 4pm Enrollment limited to 12 people Explore Your Muse Settling into the quiet of a summer afternoon, this workshop begins with visualization and self-awareness techniques to tap into one’s inner being to mine the well of imagination, intuition, and inspiration. From here, we enter into gentle restorative yoga poses supported by chairs, walls, and floor to internalize the creative practice. These poses alternate with suggestions to explore responses to sights, sounds, and thought that bubble up from the tapped-into imagination, intuition, and inspiration. Our time together will close by revisiting our original intention/positive affirmation to support longevity of practice. Register Here for one or both sessions.
