    Brief Background

Atty. Guillermo E. Torres together with five other enthusiastic individuals armed only with strong determination dreamed to establish a school in 1946. It did not take long for this school when Mindanao College (MC) now the University of Mindanao has grown and stood as the leading institution of Learning in the Region. The University has immediately branched out eight more school which spread all throughout the three provinces of Davao. Exactly, it was on summer 1950 when MC Tagum Academy was opened as the first non-sectarian private school in Tagum. It started with only one building which stood along Mabini Street, Tagum City. In its initial year there were 400 students enrolled handled by only four administration personnel – faculty members headed by Mr. Miligrito. Due to economic dislocation brought about the ravage of World War II, Mindanao College initially offered complete academic secondary course. In 1959, a two-year collegiate course in commerce was given government recognition. Having shown a better performance and turn – over of its commerce graduates, the government awarded full recognition of the course in 1975 with Mr. Ray Seguerra as Dean of College (lifted from http://tagum.umindanao.edu.ph/about/).

    ABSTRACT

This qualitative study explored the experiences of outstanding teachers in their teaching career. Employing the phenomenology as the research design, the researchers identified the informants through purposive sampling. The informant were 14 outstanding teachers across Tagum City. The informants were divided into two groups – In-Depth-Interview and Focused-Group Discussion. Utilizing semi-structured interview guide, data were gathered, saturated, and analyzed through thematic analysis. It was found out that the experiences of the outstanding teachers are difficulty in molding the student holistically, difficulty in disciplining the unruly students, difficulty in implementing the school’s policy, unavailability of the learning resources, different learning orientation, loss of interest in teaching, maintain good relationship with colleague. Further, these problematic situations were dealt through believe oneself in doing the task, engage into a professional life, accept the reality, seek an advice from colleague and superior. The realization came in like open for opportunity, an inspiration to others, too much expectations from colleague, making teaching ordinary to extraordinary. The findings of this research are not only useful for teachers, but also to the lecturers with allied field, especially those who are teaching learner-teachers and students in the teacher training colleges, universities and other educational institutes.

    ABSTRACT

Manual input of data results to an inaccurate reading of energy meters in houses. Connecting and disconnecting electricity in residential houses often involved time-consuming and unsafe processes of manual dismantling of circuitry. To address such dilemma, the researchers developed a monitoring system of household energy consumption using Bluetooth communication. The design included an electric meter customized and embedded with contactless technology. Also, the whole system consisted of two (2) parts communicating using Bluetooth; the meter device and application interface for mobile. In the metering system, the meter acted as the collector of the utilized amount of energy. Then, the application system function used the data from the gathered parameters and allowed the user to view usage quantity. The application also included an option for connection and disconnection of power source lines which can be accessed only by the electric company representatives.

    ABSTRACT

The use of robotics is one of the most important elements for development especially in the market today. The industry practice of manual fruit classification can significantly increase the prevalence of human errors that yields to stress, repetitions and exhaustion. This paper proposes a solution to lessen exhaustion for farmers and fruit manufacturers which will automatically pick up the fruit then sort it according to its classification. The CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) is the method used for the recognition of fruits and a control box was used for the movements and calibration for the robot itself. Two separate Raspberry pi modules were being used in the overall system of the project, one for the fruit recognition process and other is for the robotic arm’s system. With this, it will help the farmers and fruit manufacturers to increase consistency in the fruit classification that is very much needed in today’s fast changing agricultural industry.

    ABSTRACT

When a motor is under excessive load, it overloads. Excessive current draws insufficient torque, and overheating are the primary symptoms accompanying motor overload. Extreme motor heat is a significant cause of wear on electrical and mechanical components leading to system failure. In the case of overloaded motor, individual motor components, including bearings, motor windings, and other parts, maybe working fine, but the electric motor will continue to run hot. This system intends to protect electric induction motors and DC motors from overloading. The system used an Arduino microcontroller, which served as the main control of the system. The Arduino controls relays, measures current, and monitors the current drawn by an electric motor. The researchers conducted a functionality test. Based on the testing result, when the current setting is 10 A and the load current is beyond the set value, the motor still run without damage. ABSTRACT

DSWD has always been the center of things when considering charities and fundraising campaigns when it comes to their institutions and most of the times, people in our country want to provide those people with some incentives or in-kind donations as way to help those in need, and considering the age of technology that we are living is rapidly changing, we are trying to expose the idea more of giving charity through online using the app we made for DSWD and for the people who are active in some of the institution they wanted to help and also for the institution who will use it, by using our app made in Android Studio, our plan was to give a more secure way to give in-kind donations by pressing the donate button in the app, input the location they want to and after that the process continues through a website that we also made using PHP for the administrators in DSWD to monitor as to where the donation will go, tracking transactions, and to also see users who are currently registering in the app. Once the donation reaches its destination, the institution can notify the user who has donated them through our app to let them know that they already receive the donation that came from them.

    ABSTRACT

Medical systems can have a positive impact on patients and doctors for many reasons. One of the complaints patients are likely to give when describing the healthcare system is the amount of time they spend waiting. The amount of time a patient waits to be seen is one factor which affects utilization of healthcare services. With medical systems, these delays can be shorter due to quicker data entry, more efficient procedures and can speed the process of initiating treatment. Introducing an expert system like a medical checkup tool for all patients will give them a good process of knowing what they want to know about their pain without wasting time waiting for the doctor to check up on a patient. In this paper, the research team will be using C5.0 Algorithm to examining the health of a patient so that they will know what they are experiencing in their daily lives. A person will likely develop a common

    ABSTRACT

Hydroponics gained popularity of growing plants in an aquatic environment. Growing of plants in hydroponics uses nutrient solution to sustain plant needs in water. This study explored the effectivity of the formulated nutrient solution LAC (25% v/v) & NAM (50% v/v) to the growth of Pechay plant Brassica rapa Linn in terms of height, live weight and number of leaves. The nutrient solution used in a hydroponic system contains macronutrients, micronutrients and trace elements found in a fertile soil. ANOVA showed a significant difference (p≤0.01) in height (p≤0.01) live weight (p≤0.05) and number of leaves (p≤0.01) of Brassica rapa Linn. However, cost-effectivity analysis showed that the formulated nutrient solution is slightly expensive. Further research is recommended to reduce cost and improve production using hydroponics. ABSTRACT

In some parts of the world, some countries have developed applications to help their farmers and aimed to develop their agricultural sector. the growth of agricultural industry in Davao del Norte is increasing and turning it into a serious concern to all the farmers and agricultural businesses. With this increase, it’s hard for the customers to find buyers with the right price for their products and locating the nearest path to the marketplaces to sell their products. As the proponents who observed this scenario, they have come up with an idea of designing and developing an agricultural application to view all the updated market prices and locate the market in the whole area of Davao del Norte where they can sell their products with the help of A* search algorithm. A* Search algorithms, in contrast to different traversal techniques, it has “brains”. Its capacity is that it is actually a smart algorithm which separates it from the different traditional algorithms. The researchers used Rapid Application Development (RAD) on software development methodology. After improving and developing the project, the researcher talk about its conclusion that they’ve been find out that AgriBiz is an application that fasten and provide the seller/farmer and buyer of agricultural products a more comfortable way of their transaction and identify which store sell this specific product and gave information about the product like the price and description, it can also help not only the buyer but also seller to navigate the shortest way of their destination.
