A "Library a la Carte" program that used an electric utility cart foroutreach. The cart brought the library to students, providingindividualized reference assitance and research instruction at high-traffic areas around campus like the Student Center.
An individual who delivered a prodigious amount of informationliteracy instruction while also developing instructional web pagesand winning awards for excellence in teaching and innovation.

Open enrollment began on Tuesday, October 1, 2014 andwill continue through March 31, 2014. However, by January1, 2014, most individuals will be required to have healthinsurance. To educate yourself and the people you serve,take a look at these online resources which explain thedifferent aspects of the healthcare law.
Healthcare.gov is the federal government’s marketplacewebsite. In addition to providing a platform for findinginformation about the new law, directing consumers andbusinesses to state-run health insurance exchanges andenrolling consumers who live in states that chose not to setup exchanges.
Localhelp.healthcare.gov provides a way to find local helpfor the Affordable Care Act by typing in city/state or zipcode.
Healthlawhelper is Consumer Reports’ website whichexplains the law and provides a guide for enrolling.
The National Network of Libraries of Medicine (nnlm.gov)has regional medical libraries people can turn to for furtherresources and advice.
For example, the Pacific Southwest Region (Nevada,California, Arizona, Hawaii, and Guam) has a guide on theACA here: guides.nnlm.gov/psr/aca/california

ACRL is currentlyaccepting applica-tions for the Informa-tion LiteracyImmersion ’14 Pro-gram (Teacher andProgram tracks) tobe held July 20-25,2014 at ChamplainCollege in Burling-ton, VT. Immersionprovides four-and-a-half days of intensiveinformation literacytraining and educa-tion for academiclibrarians.
Acceptance to Im-mersion ’14 is com-petitive to ensure anenvironment thatfosters group inter-action and activeparticipation. Com-plete program andtrack details, alongwith application ma-terials, are availableonline. The applica-tion deadline isDecember 6, 2013and notifications willbe issued in Febru-ary 2014. BRING THE ACRL STANDARDS WORKSHOP TO YOU
Bring the one-day workshop, “Planning, Assessing, andCommunicating Library Impact: Putting the Standards for Librariesin Higher Education into Action,” to your campus or consortia.The workshop is led by one or two expert presenters at locationsacross the country upon request. Libraries in higher education areincreasingly required to demonstrate their value and documenttheir contributions to overall institutional effectiveness. TheStandards for Libraries in Higher Education is a framework forlibrary planning and assessment that can be used for a variety ofcircumstances including annual planning, program review, andaccreditation self-study. Through presentation, discussion, andgroup activities, learn how to use the Standards to communicateyour library’s impact. CJCLS AT ALA ANNUAL IN CHICAGO
The full minutes from the CJCLS Executive Committee meeting inChicago are available on ALA Connect.
The Hot Topics session was a resounding success, with overthirty attendees discussing assessment, digital resources, and theNational Library of Medicine databases.The National Council for Learning Resources, our liasion to theAmerican Association of Community Colleges, is looking into waysthat libraries can contribute to the "Reclaiming the AmericanDream—Community Colleges & the Nation's Future" report.David Wright created a twelve-step guide to hosting the annualawards dinner which will help future chairs of the AwardsCommittee.The Membership/Communications Committee has created aFacebook page and promoted CJCLS at a few library schools.The Library Technical Assistant (LTA) Education Committee isfocused on spreading awareness of library technician programs,connecting online with LTA program coordinators, and reachingout to underserved library staff who may be interested in their LTAeducation options.
CJCLS also co-sponsored a session with the Distance Learningand Instruction Sections entitled "Is It Worth It? Assessing OnlineInstruction."

HAMBURGER STEW
INGREDIENTS2 lbs ground beef½ lb link sausage (optional)2 medium yellow onions, chopped4 14.5oz cans stewed tomatoes8 medium carrots, sliced4 celery ribs, sliced2 medium potatoes, peeled andcubed2 cups of water1/2 cup uncooked rice (white orbrown, can even substitute pasta ifdesired)salt and pepper to taste1 clove of garlic, minced
DIRECTIONSCook beef, onion, and garlic overmedium heat then drain.Add tomatoes (with liquid), carrots,celery, potatoes, water, rice, saltand pepper; and bring to a boil.Reduce the heat and cover andsimmer for 20-30 minutes, or untilvegetables and rice are tender.Uncover and simmer for 20minutes or until thickened.

Nominees for the leadership award should demonstrate significant
services, or leadership in professional organizations that are associ-ated with the mission of community, junior, or technical colleges.
Individuals or groups from two-year institutions, as well as the two-year institutions themselves, are eligible to receive awards. Nomina-tions will be kept on file for three consecutive years.
Each Award: $500 and plaque sponsored by EBSCO Information Services
