MAGLIFE Serenity Vital Signs Monitor

A state-of-the-art monitoring system for MRI examinations

There are two features that don’t seem to go together: ECG monitoring and MRI examination! Magmedix nowoffers a unit that provides ECG recording for use in the MRI.The MAGLIFE Serenity reduces the risk of burns and signal interference to a minimum and permits standardized opera-tion just as in a conventional environment.

During MRI examinations, the body temperature may increase or decrease by several degrees. Therefore, neonates, infants as wellas patients suffering from reduced thermo-regulation, severe vascular disorders, cardiac arrhythmia, poor general condition or epi-lepsy require special monitoring during the examination.

The MAGLIFE Serenity was developed to monitor all vital parameters during anaesthe-sia in an MRI environment and is specifically developed for adults, children and neo-nates.

The advantages of MAGLIFE Serenity at a glance:ECG recordingGating, digital/analog outputsWide operational rangeCore and skin temperature measurement by use of an optical sensor (optional)Ease of mobilityWireless data transmission (optional)Safe SpO2 measurementMagnetic field monitoringOperates in up to a 3Tesla environmentAccessories suitable for MRIFlexibility in the configuration of options

Because codes do not always occur within reach of an electrical, oxygen or suction outlet, the Du-O-Vac is a lifesaver. This cart can be used anywhere; roof tops, parking garages, waiting rooms, rest rooms, cafeterias and, of course, examination rooms, without the aid of electricity or wall suction. Crash Cart includes complete Du-O- Vac, Flowmeter, Regulator, Demand Resuscitation Valve and an E Size Cylinder. Equipment is mounted on the Oxy-Lite Cart.Features: • 0-350 mmhg of suction • 500 ml Suction Canister with built in Hydro-phobic filter •Two Oxygen power take-offs with check valves • Works off of a 50 psi oxygen source New Improvements: •The suction material now goes directly into the collection canister without first going through the Du-O-Vac +Plus head •Each collection jar has a built in hydro-phobic filter that prevents any suctioned material from going into the Du-O-Vac +Plus if the collection jar becomes overfilled •The collection jar filter acts as a sealing cap when the collection jar is full or is ready for disposal •The Du-O-Vac +Plus is much quieter than the previous model Du-O-Vac. It now has a built-in silencer •The collection jar is single use with ml graduations and a frosted writing strip •Appearance has been improved by machining it from solid aluminum to a flawless finish •Up-grade package to this new style is available for the previous Du-O-Vac Crash Cart

This MRI Ventilator is pneumatically powered, single-circuit, volume-constant, time-cycled. It utilizes a high-pres-sure drive with regulated, high internal resistance to control pressure and is considered a non-constant pressure generator. Simultaneously, this MRI Ventilator produces a flow pattern that is constant in spite of changes in lung mechanics (inspiratory square-wave). This MRI Ventilator is designed with internal simplicity for operations and maintenance. Quick connect features allow the operator to provide for all necessary clinical situations: con-trolled ventilation, continuous-flow intermittent mandatory ventilation, constant positive air-way pressure, as well as being adjustable to inspiratory/expiratory ratios that are infinitely variable. A wide-range pressure relief valve allows for both the prevention of barotrauma and time-cycled, pressure-relieved ventilation. Caution: Federal law restricts this device to be used by or on the order of a physician.

When injecting gadolinium contrast dynamically for MR angiography innumerable problems are encountered. Tubing connections can come apart causing gadolinium to spray everywhere. Blood can back out of the IV site if it becomes disconnected from the pressure of the injection. Dead space within the IV tubing can vary depending upon exactly how theIV is set-up.Without knowing the dead space exactly it is impossible to know exactly when the gadolinium reaches theend of the IV tubing and begins entering the patient. This increases the unpredictability of bolus timing. Perhaps thegreatest problem is switching from gadolinium contrast infusionto saline flush. Any delay in beginning the saline flush createsa gap in the bolus. If this gap coincides with acquisition of central k-space data then it can create ringing artifacts that could be misinterpreted as aorticdissection. When using a 3-way stopcock, the rush to switch from gadolinium infusion to saline flush inevitably occurs a little early so that not all of the gadolinium is injected. The waste of gadolinium can be typically 2-3 ml, which amounts to nearly $10. In addition the image quality is not as good. Power Injectors are extremely useful in CT and conventional X-ray angiography because technologists and radi-ologists do not have to be in the room during X-irradiation of the patient. It adds an element of complexity to the injection process for the benefit of reducing radiation exposure to personnel. But in MRI, just like with ultrasound, there is no risk from being in the room during scanning. The relatively smaller volume of dynamic gadolinium con-trast injections is easier to manage by hand rather than power injection. Actually it has been shown that injectors are not necessary, and in many ways they are not as good as injecting by hand, since injecting by hand makes it easier to identify problems with the IV.

Unfortunately none of the intravenous tubing normally available is well suited for the purpose of dynamic gadolinium injections for MRA or MRI. SmartSet is a refined design of an IV tubing system. Design develop-ment has involved tubing lumen, resistance, wall thickness, type of connectors, adaptability to different required lengths, one-handed operation, a valve assembly for automatic switching between gadolinium contrast infusion and saline flush. SmartSet has been used for thousands of cases of dynamic gadolinium contrast infusions for MR Angiography, liver MRI, breast MRI and other dynamic contrast injection with universally favorable experi-ences, and is now available to perform dynamic MR contrast injections by hand.

Special Procedures Coils and Accessories

Special Procedures Head Coil

This Special Procedures Head Coil will serve a number of differ-ent imaging functions. The system consists of a basic transmit and receive quadrature coil for standard imaging, radiation therapy planning, pediatric imaging and/or dual tuned spectroscopy.

This coil is a 12-element birdcage that is 11 inches in diameter and 11 inches between end rings. The electrical performance is similar to the existing GE system head coil in transmit power and SNR (up to 10% increase in SNR). The difference is this coil splits in half to allow for easier patient access and positioning. Also, it is not fixed to the table, allowing it to be easily positioned and slid on the table. The head pad and positioner pads slide within the coil, allowing the coils to be used in a number of unique ways. Once the patient is laid into the coil, the coil can then be positioned around the patient without the patient having to move. This is accomplished with the top off the coil, so the amount of time that the patient is confined is kept to a minimum. Along with larger openings and wide field-of-view mirror, patient anxiety and claustrophobia is reduced.Call for Details - 866.646.3349

Elekta Stereotactic Frame Positioner

This stereotactic frame positioner is for use in the Special Procedures Head Coil. Designed for use with the Leksell® stereotactic head frame, the stereotactic frame positioner addresses drawbacks of other stereotactic head positioners.

Typically, these other positioners are cumbersome and fit poorly into system head coils. While the stereotactic frame is affixed to a patient’s head outside of the MRI suite, the correct positioning is not always apparent without the MRI coordinate frame and MRI coil present. This is because the positioner is attached at the patient end of the system.

With other systems, if the stereotactic frame is inadvertently positioned too low on the patient, the patient’s shoul-ders will contact the MR coil, preventing complete head coverage. Likewise, if the stereotactic frame is positioned too high on the patient’s head, the lesion may not be in the MR coil’s field of view. Finally, if the stereotactic frame is positioned at a poor angle or too far anterior, the patient may not fit into this type of positioner. As a conse-quence, the stereotactic frame could require repositioning – a poor alternative.

The solution is this stereotactic frame positioner. The positioner isattached inside of the coil, (allowing more mobility of coil positioning and freedom of stereotactic frame positioning) and retains a slide mechanism in conjunction to the MR coil’s slide mechanism. This allows the positioner to slide in and out of the coil as well as the coil sliding up and down the table. Now, an inaccurately positioned stereotactic frame will be of little consequence.Call for Details - 866.646.3349

Thermoplastic Immobilization Kit

The Special Procedures Head Coil was designed specifically to accommodate radiation oncology thermoplastic immobilization masks. Standard system head coils do not have the capability. This radiation treatment planning system that utilizes commonly used thermoplastic masks was developed in conjunction with Med Tec of Orange City, Iowa.

The advantage of this system allows thermoplastic masks to travel freely between MRI, FMRI, CT, PET and radiation treatment. The images can be fused to provide more accurate planning, and better post treatment check-up assessments.

Thermoplastic masks are formed individually for each patient with a hot water bath. The softened material hardens after a few minutes and fiducial markers can be applied. These fiducial markers are visualized in both CT and MRI, and thus accuracy of the planning is improved by fusing the data from each study. Call for Details - 866.646.3349

Pediatric Positioner Covering From Head to Toe

The Pediatric Positioner used with the Special Procedures Head Coil allows you to image children without moving them.

This stationary cradle positioner combined with a sliding split-top coil comprises a fresh solution to pediatric MRI. 60 cm of superior-to-inferior coverage means that a pediatric patient does not have to be moved to image head, torso, and pelvis. Unlike some phased array coils that have poor penetration and inhomogeneities, the split top coil will give full, homogeneous image quality in its 28cm FOV.Call for Details - 866.646.3349

High Resolution Brain Coil

This high performance Brain Coil was developed to image the anatomy of the head or brain and PROBE spectroscopy with increas-es in SNR. The system consists of a basic transmit and receive quadrature coil with end ring modifications that create clearance for a patient’s nose.

The High Resolution Brain coil is a 12-element birdcage with a 9-inch (23cm) diameter and 8-inches (20cm) between end rings. With the addition of a nose notch, the coil can attain 10 inches (25 cm) of clearance from anterior to posterior. The electrical performance of the HR Brain Coil is one nex (up to a 40% increase) better than the GE system head coil in SNR. The coil splits in halves, allowing for easier patient access and positioning. The addition of molded indicators and a coil slide mechanism yields fast and easy patient positioning.Call for Details - 866.646.3349

Cervical Spine Coil

This C-spine Array was developed to image the anatomy of the neck, C-spine, and brain stem with increases in SNR and patient comfort. The system is a receive-only array consisting of a flexible anterior bib with a conformal rigid base. The C-spine Array is a four channel phased array coil. The cradle of the neck contains two channels combining in the MR system to be in quadrature. The flexible anterior bib and conformal base bring the patient closer to the coil electronics resulting in higher SNR. The conventional approach to neck imaging is the use of a coil designed to survey the entire spine. The inevitable result with these large cov-erage arrays is lower SNR in any specific region of anatomy, the C-spine included, and possible artifacts in fast spin echo sequences. Call for Details - 866.646.3349

Trauma Neck Coil Array

This Trauma Neck Array was developed to image the cervical spine and soft tissues of the neck while the neck is immobilized in a MRI compatible cervical collar or halo. The Trauma Neck Array allows the patient to be imaged with the collar in place and no pressure points from rigid coil geometry. The patient does not have to be removed from a flat board. The array consists of two channels - one channel in the anterior and one in the posterior. The flexible anterior and posterior halves allow the coils to be positioned closer to the patient resulting in higher SNR. Call for Details - 866.646.3349

Gravity System Conventional MRI and CT exams scan patients in the recumbent position thus negating the effects of gravity on the spine. The Gravity System is compatible with all commercially available stan-dard MRI and CT systems. It places an axial load on the spine during routine imaging procedures.

This simulates the upright position providing additional valuable information and may reveal occult pathology under weight bearing conditions.

Better Diagnostic Results Competitive Edge Increase Referrals

Easy-To-Use Multiple sizes of vests make it quick and easy to connect the patient to the Gravity System

Custom made springs maintain constant axial load during studies

Load Sensors that are integrated into the foot plate mea-sure force being applied and are accurate to 1/10th pound.

Independent Studies Show the Importance of Weight Bearing MRI. A study entitled:Dynamic Effects on the Lumbar Spinal Canal: Axially Loaded CT-Myelography and MRI in Patients with Sciatica and/or Neurogenic Claudication, Jan Willen, M.D., Ph.D.; Barbro Danielson, M.D., Ph.D.; Arne Gaulitz, M.D.; Thomas Niklason; Nils Schonstrom, M.D.,Ph.D; Tommy Hansson, M.D., Ph.D., Spine 1997,Volume 22, Number 24, pp 2968 - 76. demonstrates:79% of patients experienced a significant reduction of the dural sac cross-sectional area during axial compression 35% of patients passed the borderlines for relative (100mm2) or absolute stenosis (75mm2) 36% of patients experienced deformation of the dural sac during axial compression 13% of patients experienced a narrowing of the lateral recess during axial compression

This study recommends axial loading of the lumbar spine in computed tomographic scanning and magnetic reso-nance imaging and concludes that the diagnostic specificity of spinal stenosis will increase considerably when a patient is subject to axial load.

A Study at the 2002 American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) 40th Annual Meeting and Symposium, presented by S. Khan, J.F. Hemmer, W.K. Earley, J.F. Seeger of the University of Arizona Health Science Center, showed33% of the patients examined progressed from a non-critical to critical stenosis of the thecal sac with axial loading; there was an AP diameter reduction in 50% of levels in sagittal scans and a cross-sectional area reduction in 64% of the axial scans at all disc levels imaged; 25% of patients with one critical stenotic level developed a second criti-cal stenotic level under axial loading; previously undetected synovial cysts of diverticulae developed at 20 levels during axial loading of 50 patients. Sat PadsSat Pad is a MRI image enhancement device somewhat analogous to the x-ray bolus device that has historically been used to improve image quality in radiographs. The Sat Pad is filled with a non-protonated fluid which has a magnetic susceptibility to that of water containing tissue. The Sat Pad is designed to improve the homogenenity of the local magnetic field, thereby improving images from such pulsing parameters as chemical shift fat saturation and gradient echo imaging. The pads are designed to be positioned against the patient's skin in the anatomical area of interest, thus eliminating the air/tissue interfaces. For more information please call 866.646.3349

Magmedix recommends at least one extinguisher be placed in the magnet room and the control room.

In addition, we strongly advise that all fire extinguish-ers in the general area of the MRI be replaced with non-magnetic extinguishers to reduce or eliminate the possibility of a magnetic cylinder being brought into the MRI.

Your MRI Magnet Is On 24 / 7. The magnetic fields generated by the vast majority of clinical MRI systems are always on.Although the scanner may not be in use, high magnet-ic fields are always present. Therefore it is essential to alert everyone to this fact and maintain safety stan-dards around the clock in the magnet room.

This lighted sign is an important warning to everyone including emergency rescue personnel and others who may not be familiar with the dangers associated with MRI.

Light can be hardwired into the emergency lighting system to provide the necessary warnings even when the electricity goes out or fitted with a standard plug. Professional installation required.

Sign is double-sided and can be mounted perpendicu-lar to the wall above a door so that it can be seen from both directions in a corridor, or mounted flat above a door. Please Note: This sign must remain outside of the scan room and away from your MRI's magnetic field. Sign measures 7" x 11 ½" x 2 ½"

Designed for simplicity in installation and use, this ambient Oxygen Monitor plugs into any 120 VAC wall outletfor instant area monitoring in the MRI suite.

A cryogen leak in the MRI suite can be very dangerous. Even though the gas itself is not toxic, it can displace oxygen in the air and cause asphyxiation before the people in the room are aware of what is happening. OHSA has determined that "oxygen levels [in the air] below 19.5% are inadequate for an entrant's respiratory needs... Victims of asphyxiation often are unaware of their predicament until they are incapable of saving themselves or even calling for help." Should the level of oxygen in the room drop below 19.5%, the monitor sounds an alarm. Size: 7.2" X 5.6" X 1.6" (18.29cm X 14.22cm X 4.06cm)

Please note: Oxygen monitor’s power-pack is magnetic and must be kept a safe distance from the MRI magnet.

Here's safety protection and final reminders for operators, doctors, patients and hospital staff.

Safety signs mounted at an entrance to the magnet room itself alert everyone who enters that loose metallic objects may become danger-ous projectiles.Don't let your safety warnings get left behind thedoor. If your door opens against the wall, consider posting signs on each side of the door, to ensure your danger signs are visible, whetherthe door is open or shut.

Regarding Controlled Access for MR Facilities and the Use of Signs, please be advised of the following: According to the U. S. Department Of Health and Human Services Center for Devices and Radiological Health Food and Drug Administration, the document entitled, Guidance for the Submission Of Premarket Notifications for Magnetic Resonance Diagnostic Devices (November 14, 1998) Attachment B, Recommended User Instructions for a Magnetic Resonance Diagnostic Device, section B. 5 Controlled Access Area states: "The controlled access area should be labeled "Danger - High Magnetic Field" at all entries. Operators should be warned by appropriate signs about the presence of magnetic fields and their force and torque on magnetic materials, and that loose ferrous objects should be excluded.”

Alert everyone to the dangers inherent to the MRI scan room before they enter. This novel 3ft x 5ft floor mat is very hard to miss.Constructed of extremely durable, static dissipative nylon yarn.Fibers are woven into the backing - not glued for increased durability. These floor mats can be commercially laundered or even hosed down and vacuumed.Suitable for most outside covered entryways and any indoor areas.Floor mats are fully backed with rubber for non-skid stability.Graphics are guaranteed not to fade for 11 years.

FerrAlert Halo - Ferromagnetic Detection System

Normal MRI Picture / MRI Picture w/Ferrous Hair Clip

The location of the ferromag-netic object in the Sensor Portal is indicated by the illumination of the group of 4 or more am-ber LED’s closest to the ferrous object. For example as shown in the picture above if the second from the top, left and right groups of LED’s (amber) are activated, the ferromagnetic object is near the center of the portal at head level. If multiple groups of amber LED’s are il-luminated, a number of sensors have been activated.

FerrAlert Halo System: The FerrAlert Halo System consists of FerrAlert Halo PreScreen and FerrAlert Halo Entry to supplement current screening procedures. This combination ensures the most comprehensive way to reduce the risk of injuries, mortality, quenches, and damage to the magnet. Each part of the System (PreScreen or Entry) can be purchased separately. Unlike other types of detectors, the FerrAlert System emits no electromagneticradiation to detect objects. Titanium. plastic, wood, copper, aluminum and all other non-magnetic materials not attracted to the magnet will be ignored.

FERRALERT Prescreen: The FerrAlert Halo PreScreen is set to a very high sensitivity to detect objects as small as a hairpin. This unit is typically placed in a dressing room or theinterview/screening area. It requires no breach of the patient or staff intimatepersonal space. If an object is detected the operator will be Alerted by a visualand audio alarm.

FERRALERT Entry FerrAlert Halo Entry: The FerrAlert Halo Entry is used to detect items as small as a pocket knife that may be brought into the scanning room.

REDUCES THE RISK OF INJURIES AND DEATH Although existing safety recommendations to prevent accidents are compre-hensive, human error still occurs, resulting in injuries or even death to patients, staff and visitors. With increasing magnet field strength and steeper field gra-dients, the risks are increasing

PREVENTS QUENCHES AND RAMP DOWNS Quenches can cost up to $500,000 in service and repair cost per occurrence. Lost income during magnet downtime can result in additional $ 200,000

REDUCES OPERATING COSTS FERRALERT™ yields a rapid return on investment and pays for itself by prevention of damage to a magnet as well as support equipment. Imaging downtime can cost $ 1,200 to $ 3,000 an hour. The lost imaging time to re-move a missed cell phone, for example, from a magnet or to remove a patient because of a missed ferrous object can add up over time and easily pay for FERRALERT™

TARGETS ONLY FERROUS OBJECTS Unlike conventional metal detectors which detect many different metals, FERRALERT™ alarms ONLY upon de-tection of ferromagnetic metals, and helps to pinpoint the location of an object. FerrAlerts are avaliable in North Americaand Europe

Please note: Metal detectors are not intended to detect metal items or implants inside the body. They will not pin-point the location or even determine the presence of metal inside the body. A metal detector cannot differentiate between magnetic and non-magnetic items. Its value lies in its ability to alert the staff to the presence of metal items. It is up to the staff member to determine whether or not the item has magnetic properties.A metal detector plays an important ancillary function. It is not intended to replace vigilance. Nothing replaces a well thought-out and implemented system for safety. A well-educated staff, screening forms, notices to emergency personnel regarding the special challenges of the MRI environment and the use of non-magnetic, MRI suitable products are all essential. A metal detector helps detect items that may go unnoticed by even the most careful professional. Use metal detectors outside of the scan room to screen people and objects to prevent items from entering the magnetic field and becoming a hazard.

Reference Manual for Magnetic Resonance Safety, Implants and Devices 2009

Simply PhysicsMembers of the radiology profession, whether physicians or technologist, are not dummies. Virtually all of them are capable of understanding the real workings of an MRI scanner if it is explained to them properly. Since February 1994 I have been responsible for teaching MR Physics to the residents and technologists at the University of Maryland, Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Alas, I could not find a single textbook that covered all of the important material in what I felt was a clear, conscise yet complete manner. So I developed my own lecture material. To make life easier for my students, I put together handouts that included, on a single page, a pair of 1/4 page reductions of the lecture trans-parencies, a paragraph of explanatory text, definitions, key points and room for notes. The response from my students was over-whelming. It became clear that I just had to turn these handouts into a book. The result is a student-friendly textbook of 130 pages divided into 11 chapters.

MRI Education Seminars

IMPRoVE yoUR FACILITy'S REVENUE THRoUGH STAFF EDUCATIoN

• Increased Throughput: Many sites try to increase the number of patients scanned per day by shortening the time allowed for each procedure. While this will accomplish the goal of having more patients on the sched-ule each day, inexperienced or inadequately trained technologists are not able to keep up with the schedule. Obviously, as with large airports and weather delays, once the schedule is delayed, it only gets worse over the course of the day. This only results in angry and frustrated patients. • Repeat Studies: Having to call a patient back for additional sequences impacts the facility in several ways. The most obvious is again dealing with patient satisfaction. The patient is inconvenienced and may well have increased anxiety thinking that something bad was found on the original study. In addition to the patient issues, the final report to the referring physician is delayed creating an additional dissatisfied customer. Lastly, the time slot is lost with regards to a billable procedure.

• New Procedures: As MR technology improves, the number of applications increase. If the technologists are unable to perform the studies, or even worse, perform them poorly, the facility is unable to grow their business. Why spend upwards of 1.5 million dollars on a piece of equipment, and not invest in educating the staff in the efficient use of the system?

Staff Efficiency Can Be Easily Improved Through Education

MRI Training Seminar

Magnetic Resonance Health Effects and Safety: Update 2010 Presented by Frank G. Shellock, Ph.D., Adjunct Clinical Professor of Radiology Keck School of Medicine University of Southern California. Founder, Institute for Magnetic Resonance Safety, Education, and Research

Half-day course at your facility presents practical information pertaining to MR bioeffects and safety. This semi-nar is of particular value to Radiologists, MRI Technologists, MR Physicists, Other Healthcare Professionals and Workers. A question and answer session will follow the lecture. A review of your facility’s safety procedures is optional. Weekend seminars are available for your convenience.

With the utilization and complexity of magnetic resonance (MR) procedures constantly increasing, safety and patient management issues are progressively more important aspects of this diagnostic modality. In order to avoid incidents and accidents in the MR environment, it is necessary to be vigilant with regard to understanding basic MR safety information as well as to update, revise, and add to safety guidelines and policies in consider-ation of the latest information and technological changes for MR procedures.

The preservation of a safe MR environment requires constant attention by MR healthcare professionals with regard to the management of patients with metallic biomedical implants or devices as the variety and complex-ity of implants and devices constantly changes. The most current and accurate information about these objects relative to the MR environment must be obtained and used. To date, more than 1,100 implants and objects have been tested for MR-safety or MR-compatibility. This course will discuss this information, with an emphasis on those objects that have recently undergone evaluation or that require additional consideration because of existing controversy or confusion.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:·Describe the basic aspects of magnetic fields used for magnetic resonance (MR) systems ·Describe the bio-effects associated with exposure to the static, gradient, and radiofrequency fields used for MR ·Understand the issues related to acoustic noise ·Implement comprehensive screening procedures to prepare patients for MR procedures and individuals for the MR environment ·Recognize methods to properly control MR system site access ·Identify guidelines to manage pregnant patients referred for MR procedures ·Describe techniques to handle patients with anxiety, emotional distress, or claustrophobia related to MR ·Incorporate into their know-ledge base the latest information related to implants, devices, and other biomedical objects in order to ensure MR safety ·Implement into daily practice various policies to prevent incidents and accidents associated with MR procedures

Special Procedures Head CoilThis Special Procedures Head Coil will serve a number of different imaging functions. The system consists of a basic transmit and receive quadrature coil for standard imaging, radiation therapy planning, pediatric imaging and/or dual tuned spectroscopy. This coil is a 12-element birdcage that is 11 inches in diameter and 11 inch-es between end rings. It splits in half to allow for easier patient access and positioning. Along with larger openings and wide field-of-view mirror, patient anxiety and claustrophobia is reduced. For Details Please Call - 866.646.3349

Elekta Stereotactic Frame PositionerThis stereotactic frame positioner is for use in the Special Procedures HeadCoil. Designed for use with the Leksell® stereotactic head frame, the stereotactic frame positioner addresses drawbacks of other stereotactic head positioners. The positioner is attached inside of the coil, (allowing more mobility of coil positioning and freedom of stereotactic frame positioning) and retains a slide mechanism in conjunction to the MR coil’s slide mecha-nism. This allows the positioner to slide in and out of the coil as well as the coil sliding up and down the table. Now, an inaccurately positioned stereotactic frame will be of little consequence. For Details Please Call 866.646.3349

Thermoplastic Immobilization KitThe Special Procedures Head Coil was designed specifically to accom-modate radiation oncology thermoplastic immobilization masks. Standardsystem head coils do not have the capability. The advantage of this system allows thermoplastic masks to travel freely between MRI, FMRI, CT, PET and radiation treatment. The images can be fused to providemore accurate planning, and better post treatment check-up

assessments.Thermoplastic masks are formed individually for each patient with a hot water bath. The softened material hardens after a few minutes and fiducial markers can be applied. These fiducial markers are visualized in both CT and MRI, and thus accuracy of the planning is improved by fus-ing the data from each study. For Details Please Call 866.646.3349

This stationary cradle positioner combined with a sliding split-top coil com-prises a fresh solution to pediatric MRI. 60 cm of superior-to-inferior cover-age means that a pediatric patient does not have to be moved to image head, torso, and pelvis. Unlike some phased array coils that have poor pen-etration and inhomogeneities, the split top coil will give full, homogeneous image quality in its 28cm FOV.

For Details Please Call 866.646.3349

The Pediatric Positioner used with the Special Procedures Head Coil allows you to image children without moving them.

Sat Pad Breast Imaging Kits

Developed to deal with specific problems associated with Fat Sat and Con-trast Issues in Breast Imaging. Kits have been developed for 4 channel, 7 channel, and 8 channel coils.

Pads contain a perflourocarbon fluid that contains no hydrogen atoms and has magnetic susceptibility similar to that of human tissue. They will con-tribute no signal to the MR Image. These imaging kits reduce the influence of the human body on the magnetic flux, improving the homogeneity of the main field. They will attenuate field distortions caused by sharp angled anatomies such as breast and chest walls when performing breast imaging. The breast kits eliminate air-tissue interfaces making the target areas more spherical.

Imaging Kit on GE Coil

Sat Pad is a MRI image enhancement device somewhat analogous to the x-ray bolus device that have histori-cally been used to improve image quality in radiographs.

FerrAlert SystemThe FerrAlert Halo System consists of FerrAlert Halo PreScreen and FerrAlert Halo Entry to supplement current screening procedures. This combination ensures the most compre-hensive way to reduce the risk of injuries, mortality, quenches, and damage to the mag-net. Each part of the System (PreScreen or Entry) can be purchased separately. The FerrAlert Halo PreScreen is set to a very high sensitivity to detect objects as small as a hairpin. This unit is typically placed in a dressing room or the interview/screening area. It requires no breach of the patient or staff intimate personal space. If an object is detect-ed the operator will be Alerted by a visual and audio alarm.Unlike other types of detectors, FerrAlert Halo PreScreen emits no electromagnetic radia-tion to detect objects. Titanium. plastic, wood, copper, aluminum and all other non-mag-netic materials not attracted to the magnet will be ignored.

The FerrAlert Halo Entry is used to detect items as small as a pocket knife that may be brought into the scanning room. Although existing safety recommendations to prevent accidents are comprehensive, human error still occurs, resulting in injuries or even death to patients, staff and visitors. With increasing magnet field strength and steeper field gradients, the risks are increasingFerrAlert™ yields a rapid return on investment and pays for itself by prevention of dam-age to a magnet as well as support equipment. Imaging downtime can cost $ 1,200 to $ 3,000 an hour over time and easily pay for FerrAlert™ Please see page 44 for details

Clear Communications During MRI Scans - MRI Operations produce intense acoustic noise levels (sometimes exceeding 100dB), as well as very high electromagnetic and radio frequen-cy noise. These noises prevent normal communications with the patient during scans.

The FOMRI™ fiber optic microphone virtually eliminates EPI acoustic noise, and is the most advanced technology available for personal communications in the MRI environments. It can be used in combination with any noise reduction headset to enable simple, crystal-clear verbal communications once again between the patient and MRI staff, and between MRI operators.

In fact, clear communications improve patient comfort dramatically, making it possible to get more accurate MRI scans with much less effort.

This proprietary, passive system is completely free of metal and electronics which could cause interfer-ence during the scanning process, and is completely safe and simple to use. FOMRI systems are in use at leading universities and research organizations world-wide. Item Number: Description: 03-501A0069 FOMRI™ I Noise Canceling Optical Microphone

Claustrophobic Relief MirrorThe Claustrophobic Relief Mirror was developed to do precisely what the name implies. The mirror connects directly to the table at nearly any table position, thereby allowing all patients to see outside of the magnet during their procedure. Two removable mirrors are provided – one for foot-first procedures and the other for head-first procedures. This ensures that the visual field remains optically non-inverted. Since it is not worn on the face, it does not require cleaning after each patient use.

Relax, You Can Talk Again And Be Heard.

Optoacoustic’s IMROC™ is a fiber optic-based system that brings routine communications back to MRI scanner rooms.IMROC enables up to six (6) concurrent dialogs during a scan - up to five staff members, plus patient - using adaptive DSP-based noise reduction.

Now doctors and staff can speak with each other, with their patient, and with control room technologists, Safely, Intelligibly and Routinely. IMROC also features a MP4 Stereo Entertainment System to make patient comfort com-plete. IMROC is the only communications system that effectively filters out MRI background noise with complete EMI/RFI immunity, ensuring excellent sound quality without imaging interference.

Remember when it was simple to talk? IMROC makes it simple again.

IMROC - Interventional Magnetic Resonance Optical Communications

Each Lightweight Optical Head Set consists of slim ear defenders, two high-fidelity optical speakers, and FOMRI Dual Channel Noise Canceling Microphone. Optoacustics’ Headsets areself-hearing and use proprietary DSP capabilities to filter out MRI noise picked up by the microphone during the scan.

FOMRI II Microphone Optoacoustics’ Dual Channel Noise Canceling FOMRI microphone is the industry standard for MRI environ-ments, with excellent sound quality.

The FOMRI eliminates most acous-tic noise, provides real-time adap-tive noise canceling and delivers very high intelligibility. The FOMRI includes a holder for disposable hy-gienic pop screens.

The Optical Switching Unit is the control box used to determine with whom a doctor speaks.Worn by each staff mem-ber during the scan, the Switching Unit is connected via fiber optic cables to the optical Headset and the EOU.Simple controls enable instant doctor-patient-tech-nologist channel selection as well as volume.

The IMROC Mixing Console enables full communications among doctors and tech-nologist and also manages the interactive environment: turning off selected head-sets, muting a patient’s speaker, adjusting noise reduction levels or adjusting a patients’s music volume.Music can be piped directly to a patient.Up to two additional head-sets can be connected to the Mixing Console for use by technologists in the control room.

Electro-Optical UnitThe electro-Optical Unit is the heart of the IMROC system, receiving incom-ing communications from each Optical Headset and from the Mixing Console, Processing it, and distributing it to its intended staff and patients channels. IMROC’s EOU 6000 Features all of the robust safety, electronics and power components that are required for Class 1 laser systems.

Lateral Transfer without lifting: No lifting required, staff back injury is reduced. The results can be savings on both workers compensation and insurance.

Our Unique Conveyor Belt action carries patient from surface to surface, powered only by a gentle “push” Rollbord bridges the gap : Older airflow technology requires a bridge to cover gaps between surfaces. Slide sheet transfers across gaps are painful to the patient. Rollbord automatically bridges the gap and the patient feels nothing.

Disposable cover sheets are inexpensive and protect Rollbord from soiling and provide an additional layer of infection control.

Rollbord folds in half and can hang on a wall hook for easy storage.

MRI Rollbord Rollbord is a soft and lightweight patient transfer device that contains no metal rollers. The anti-bacterial treated surface and disposable cover sheet help to achieve maximum infection control. The Rollbord is an important part of any Safe Patient Handling Program.

No Rollers! No Lifting • No Noise • Soft & Comfortable • Anti-Microbial,Anti-Static Material

Patient rides on a comfortable surface with far less risk of skin tears, injury, bruising and agitation associated with transfers on slide sheets.

Dry for dusting, wet for cleaningProfessional Grade Mop Frame & Handle, Telescoping handle to 57” Unique trapezoid shape significantly reduces dirt trails. Designed for maximum soil release when machine washed.Cleans dirt, dust, grease and grime from any floor surface. No solvents, solutions or chemicals! Eliminates the drag and friction commonly associated with all other floor mops, even other microfibers. It actually glides along the floor, wet or dry, on a cushion of air. The patented Tri-Fiber de-sign uses three types of microfibers: long, stiff monofibers let the mop glide along the floor by lifting the pad and allowing increased air flow between the stiff monofibers. Then, by pushing down on the mop, you bend the mono-fibers to expose two types of cleaning microfibers wrapped around the core monofiber responsible for superior floor cleaning performance. Finally, when you release the downward pressure on the mop, the mop pad literally springs back on the stiff monofibers. This patented union of microfibers guarantees an incredibly improved ability to collect dirt, dust and grime.

Quench Protection:Discontinue using old, pieced together equipment for pressurizing helium storagecontainers which were never meant for helium fills. Avoid ice blockages due to inefficient equipment. Avoid quench related down-time of 2-3 weeks, if not longer. Reduce the cost of having samples run outside. Avoid potentially having to replace the magnet at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Steer clear of paying thousands of dollars to recommission a magnet with little or no money left in the budget. Constructed entirely of non-magnetic materials for pressurizing liquid heliumdewars wherever a high magnetic field is present.

Safety:This kit is used to safely and accurately pressurize a helium storage vessel by regulating the flow of gas from the helium gas cylinder. This allows accurate control of the liquid helium flow into the magnet, ensuring a proper cryogen fill.

Magmedix flowgauge bodies are cut and precision machined from solid, clear acrylic plastic blocks. This construction not only produces a handsome finished product, but permits complete visual inspection. Magmedix is able to provide you with a variety of Helium and Nitrogen level gauges for your magnet. Please specify Helium or Nitrogen gauges, and Magnet type when ordering
