THRUST ALLOY FUSELAGE

The core of the Naish Foil System is an 6061 Aluminum Alloy fuselage with our exclusive indexed scarf joint. This design precisely positions the main foil and prevents both twisting and bending without loading the (3) M6 screws. The back end features a slotted connection for the stabilizer that provides +/- 2.5 degrees of trim adjustment and dampens vibration in this critical area.

THRUST ALLOY MAST SYSTEM

The Thrust Mast is available in 55, 70 and 90 centimeter lengths. Each foil includes the optimal mast for that application—other sizes are available as accessories so beginners and experts can fine-tune their kit. The low drag NACA section is extruded from anodized 6061 Aluminum Alloy, making the masts corrosion resistant, tough and lightweight. The board connection is easily interchangeable between a 4-bolt base plate, tuttle or deep tuttle base for cross-sport use, i.e. kiting, windsurfing, stand up paddling or surfing.

Naish Thrust Foil Systems feature a 6061 Aluminum Alloy 4-bolt base plate that works with parallel US boxes (adjustable) and standard 4-bolt mounting systems (typical on twin tip kiteboards). Because the base plate is interchangeable, Naish foils can easily be converted to fit Tuttle and Deep Tuttle Boxes with our Tuttle Base-plates, which are available as accessories.

THRUST SURF WINGS

Designed in collaboration with Kai Lenny, the Thrust Surf Hydrofoil develops lift at low speed and launches with minimal effort. The combination of early take-off and excellent maneuverability makes it great for waveriding, cruising or racing. The extra long fuselage creates a large sweet spot and provides stability, while the downturned stabilizer (rear foil) makes waveriding and turning intuitive and easy. The small (55 cm) extruded 6061 Aluminum Alloy mast can be retrofitted to any style box system.

THRUST KS 1 WINGS

Fast and stable, the Thrust KS 1 Foil inspires confidence while delivering plenty of straight-line mojo. The deceptively clean, flat main wing design planes up quickly for smooth take-offs and situates itself naturally in the water for a balanced ride. It tracks beautifully, thanks to a rudder integrated into the stabilizer (rear wing), and moves upwind and downwind with ease. The long fuselage adds additional stability and Naish’s unique stabilizer adjustment system allows the entire setup to be optimally tuned for both rider weight and conditions. The long (90 cm) extruded 6061 Aluminum Alloy mast can be retrofitted to any style box system.

THRUST WS 1 WINGS

The Thrust WS 1 was developed with Robby Naish to be the ultimate easy access foil system. The unique modified delta platform launches early, provides excellent flight stability and easily remains manageable at speed. Featuring a larger version of the integrated rudder (developed for the Kite foil), the WS 1 system tracks well while remaining responsive and intuitive for turns and maneuvers. The mast position on the long fuselage—which adds additional stability—has been moved back, making it possible to use the Thrust WS 1 with existing slalom and freeride boards. Naish’s unique stabilizer adjustment system allows the entire setup to be optimally tuned for individual riders. The medium (70 cm) extruded 6061 Aluminum Alloy mast can be retrofitted to any style box system.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

The Naish Foil System utilizes M6 stainless steel bolts throughout. Remember that foils are utilized in a very corrosive marine environment; here are three important tips to maximize the life of your foil:

1) Whenever possible, apply anti-seizing compound to the screw threads before assembling.

2) Always use the correct screwdriver (Phillips #3) to avoid damaging the screw slots.

3) Always rinse off with fresh water after use.

It’s easiest if you assemble your new foil for the first time in the order below:

A) ATTACH THE ADJUSTABLE STABILIZER (REAR WING): With the fuselage upside down, insert the mini T-nuts on the non-countersunk side at the back of the fuselage. Slide the back wing into the slot in the back of the fuselage from underneath and position it so the front hole in the wing is aligned to the forward hole in the fuselage. Insert the 15 mm front screw (red); you will need to use a screwdriver, as the front hole in the wing is a tight fit. Tighten the screw until it is engaged with the mini T-nut and is hand-tight. Do the same with the back screw—it’s a looser fit, so be careful not to cross thread. For the “factory setting”, match the notch on the back of the wing to the notches on the back of the fuselage and tighten both screws.

B) ATTACH THE MAIN FOIL (FRONT WING): Keeping the fuselage turned bottom up, position the front wing (with logo down) to the scarf joint. Thread the 25 mm center screw (blue) until hand-tight. Do the same with the other two screws.

C) ATTACH THE BASEPLATE TO THE MAST: Using the (3) 30 mm screws, tighten beginning with the center screw first, then the front and finally the back screw. (Note: both normal and Deep Tuttle Baseplates are available as accessories.)

D) ATTACH THE MAST/BASEPLATE ASSEMBLY TO THE FUSELAGE: Insert the mast into the fuselage, then thread (3) 45 mm (gold) screws until hand-tight. As before, the final tightening order is center screw first, followed by front screw and then back screw.

ADJUSTING THE STABILIZER

TUNING THE ADJUSTABLE STABILIZER

Always start from the “factory setting”—the notch on the back of the rear foil should line up with the notches on the back of the fuselage. This is our default trim and functions as a great starting point for most riders. Below are simple instructions for fine-tuning. Keep in mind that even a 1 mm difference can easily be felt, so we suggest small, incremental adjustments.

(+) If you need MORE lift: For example, you are having difficulty staying on the foil without pumping the board (which can be an issue for heavier riders especially in lighter wind), simply loosen the rear screw and move the back of the stabilizer wing UP (closer to the board).

(-) If you need LESS lift: For example, the board is coming out of the water too easily at speed (which can be an issue for lighter riders, especially in higher wind) simply loosen the back screw and move the back of the stabilizer wing DOWN (further from the board).
