THE 2016 ELECTION YEAR: ARE THE VOTERS CRAZY, OR ARE THE POLITICIANS?

Ross RamseyExecutive Editor and Co-FounderThe Texas Tribune

Enjoy breakfast with Ross Ramsey, Executive Editor and co-founder of the Texas Tribune. Call it the year that proved the pundits wrong, when the initial favorite in one primary left early, where the governors couldn’t get traction for national campaigns, and where the voters who felt most left out often had the most sway, putting a good scare into the Democratic favorite and actually selecting, one way or another, the GOP’s probable nominee. Listen as Ross gives his insights into the upcoming election and overall political climate making headlines today.

COMMON GROUND

Common Ground consists of Bob Beckel and Cal Thomas, the authors of the syndicated USA Today column of the same name. Beckel, who began his career in politics in 1968, appears regularly on television as an analyst; while Thomas is one of the most widely read and highly regarded voices of the political scene. These politically savvy and politically different analysts take their differences and find the “common ground” that unites all Americans. The goal of the column is to show Americans that bridges can be forged between differences and agreements can be made. The duo inspires audiences to find the common ground in their own beliefs and put aside politics as usual.

Books by Common Ground are available for sale at the registration desk and the breakfast. They will be signed by the authors after breakfast.

BOB BECKEL is a political consultant, CNN commentator and co-columnist for USA Today’s ‘Common Ground.’ One of Washington’s leading political analysts, he has a veteran’s perspective from his experience in Robert Kennedy’s 1968 campaign, the Carter administration and Walter Mondale’s presidential campaign. A regular guest on CNN’s Crossfire, he has been a contributing columnist for the Los Angeles Times, a guest host for Larry King Live and a Crossfire Sunday co-host with Lynne Cheney. He is a Democratic political analyst for FOX News and a syndicated columnist with Tribune Media Services.

CAL THOMAS is one of America's most widely-read syndicated op-ed columnists. A FOX News contributor for more than 15 years and half of the ‘Common Ground’ duo, he also hosts a daily radio program syndicated to more than 300 stations nationwide. He offers his view of the American landscape and addresses the historical conditions and decisions that have shaped it. He focuses on what promotes the general welfare, regardless of which party or ideology gets the credit, and provides an answer to the question of why we constantly fight the same battles over and over.
