TONERS FOR WHITE PRODUCTS are special blends of pigments that produce a specific hue which masks the initial yellowness of whites, the aged yellowness created by using amber resins or over processing.

Toned whites have a more pleasing appearance due to the warm blue-white tone yielded. Toners also increase the opacity of whites without drastically affecting the reflectance value.

Applications:

• Used to make white systems appear whiter• Overcome the problem of yellow tones associated with whites• Increase the hiding power (opacity) of whites• Mask the aged look of whites as they yellow

Color Strength and Hue Control Specifications: Toners are quality controlled to ± 2% of tinting strength and maximum total color hue tolerance of One ∆ E.

Available Toners:

• AD EX 319D: Toner for solventborne systems• WB EX 258D: Toner for waterborne systems

SUPERSPERSE® 95 is a multifunctional dispersant that is used in both the grind and the letdown phase.

It eliminates the need for additional buffers such as ammonia, TEA or Aminomethyl Propanol in a coating system. SUPERSPERSE 95® is UV stable and, under most conditions, will not cause discoloration.

Application: In latex systems, SUPERSPERSE® 95 is used in conjunction with other common dispersants. In the grind, reduce the level of current dispersant by 30 to 40% and replace with SUPERSPERSE® 95 at 0.75 to 1.00 pound per 100 gallons.

Better pigment dispersion and shorter dwell times will be realized, which can reduce the amount of prime pigments needed to achieve desired opacity and/or tint strength. In most cases, a 10% reduction of glycols will be possible.

Recommended Usage Level: Adjust the final pH with SUPERSPERSE® 95 at 0.5 to 1.0 pound per 100 gallons.

• SUPERSPERSE 95® helps establish a stable pH which reduces flash rusting and improves thickener performance without negatively affecting the early water sensitivity of the system.

• Stable pH properties will reduce the occurrence of pigment flocculation for products that require extended shelf-life.

• Additional benefits include better scrub and water resistance due to the lower content of conventional non-volatile dispersants.

• SUPERSPERSE 95® has very low odor and is not detected by most observers when properly applied.

EZ FLAT AQ is a matting/flatting paste for gloss reduction in aqueous systems.

Application: EZ FLAT AQ is an easy to use stir-in dispersion which provides consistent gloss reduction. It is also used for making final gloss adjustments which ensures your product is within specification and right on standard. EZ FLAT AQ allows users to avoid the unwanted dust associated with processing dry silica during the manufacturing or compounding process. EZ FLAT AQ contains amorphous silica for flatting and a polyolefin blend for scratch, scuff and polish resistance. The polyolefin blend also provides additional anti-blocking properties when using the EZ FLAT AQ in topcoats.

Suggested Incorporating Technique: EZ FLAT AQ should always be mixed prior to use. In most cases it will be more viscous then the systems in which it will be used. Because of this, we recommend pre-mixing it by diluting it with 5-10% water, then added slowly into the batch while it is under agitation.

Typical Use Level: Ranges from 5.0 - 15.0%. Use levels are dependent upon the type of resin for the EZ FLAT AQ incorporation. Other factors include film thickness and dry time.

MS PASTE is a moisture scavenger for urethane coatings, castable systems and adhesives.

It is a 50% concentration of molecular sieves powder (crystalline Aluminosilicate of Zeolite) in castor oil. It has been specifically designed for use in solvent-free polyurethane systems.

Applications: MS PASTE molecular sieves selectively absorb small polar molecules while excluding large organic molecules. In practice, MS PASTE molecular sieves will absorb water, not solvents or resins.

Typical Use Level: In polyurethane systems, approximately 2.5% - 5.0% MS PASTE is typically required based on total formulation.
