September 30Will Planning: Having My House in OrderSpeakers: Garvie Schmidt and Andy Shewey, Planned Giving Advisors with MB Foundation

Most people think of writing a will or trust as a legal process. However, it’s more than that. It’s part of Christian discipleship. When you consider that God is the owner of all (Psalm 24:1) and we are His stewards (Matthew 25:14-30), the process is really about transferring stewardship.

Whether you are single or married, completing your first plan or reviewing an existing plan, this presentation will help you understand: the basics of wills, trusts, and other legal documents ideas to consider when reviewing your plan how to protect my family and heirs from unnecessary hassles and heartaches how to include a gift to charities you love

October 7Collectible World Beads: Trade, Crafts and Cultures on a StringSpeaker: Kathy Richardson, co-owner of Small World Gallery and founder of IBISwoman Jewelry Design in Lindsborg

If you believe collectible beads appeal only to women, you haven’t heard from Kathy Richardson of Lindsborg on the subject. Bead history appeals to the scientist, geographer, craftsman, sociologist, economist and trader in everyone. Kathy takes her audiences to the earliest modes of personal ornament and money in shells and beads and forward to the late 20th century rebirth of Eastern European cottage methods of bead making. Photographs and stories of beads from her own collection of historic glass, stone, ceramics and metals enhance this journey. Beads have long been about personal ornament, but they also tell trade, politics and the fate of nations.

October 21: HomecomingWhen You Stop Learning it’s Time to Die!Speaker: Ben Kubassek

Come hear my story of how I was raised in a religious commune that prevented it’s young people from getting an education beyond the 8th grade. I educated myself in secret in the colony and then left at the age of 21 to start my own business. I still educate myself daily to this day at the age of 58.

I believe entrepreneurs are the missionaries of the future and that retirement is a curse invented by selfish human beings. We should learn so that we can share what we know with those less fortunate and empower them to help themselves. It’s the only we can give away what we have and still keep it at the same time.
