The celebrated ballet dancer Maria Taglioni ownedand restored the villas in the early nineteenth century,welcoming Bellini, Rossini, Franz Lizst, Riccordi and theItalian opera star Giuditta Pasta, for whom the role of Normawas written. In the gardens you can find a plaque in bronzecommemorating the unexpected landing of AustrianEmperor Joseph II who took refuge in the Villa's harborduring a sudden hurricane in 1769. Cruise past other celebrity villas, stop for aLakeside lunch, shop the boutiques of Bellagio. This andmore, it is your choice.• We highly recommend the historic golf course at Menaggiofor the links and also the majestic views over Lake Como. Wecan also arrange tee times, carts and clubs to enjoy Villad'Este's golf course.• Take advantage of the cultural seasons of Como and Milan.Transportation and tickets can be arranged for anyone whowishes to see opera at La Scala.• It is well worth getting a bird's eye view of Lake Como. WHAT TO KNOW• The pool is heated in July and August only on request to amaximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. Given weatherand the size of the pool, this can take several days. The pool isdeep and swimmers must be comfortable with using laddersto climb out. There is no shallow end. Guests are fullyresponsible for their own safety at all times.
