UEWM Qigong class for

Master Degree of Science in

Traditional Chinese

Medicine.

Results

274 health issues being

collected among 151

students. 62.3% benefit

from Medical Qigong; 19.9%

did not experience obvious

benefits, 17.9% did not

respond to this survey.

★ Goal: identity the benefit of Herguan Medical Qigong to be used in students’ future career as healthcare professional

★ Is Medical Qigong important for medical professionals?

★ The research is to find out if there is any statistical results to support the idea that Qigong will benefit medical professionals and make them ready to serve their future patients well.

★ The research data is collected from Qigong class CM215 conducted in a classroom setting.

Data Size:

★ There are total of 274 health issues being collected among 151 students

Materials and Methods

Design and Setting:

★ The style of QiGong is designed and practiced by Dr. Yingqiu Wang for 30 plus years.

★ Student is required to learn Medical Qigong in class and practice the learning during the class and at home.

★ Student will write a report at the end of their semester about whether or not this class has benefit for their own

personal health issues or noticeable benefit on body and mind health or they can write Qigong philosophy and

health in general.

Intervention Description: The goal of this research is to find out from students’ report whether or not thisclass has a benefit for their own personal health issues. What are the most common type of health issues thatcan be helped by this Medical Qigong exercise.

Data collection: Data is retrieved from students’ reports and was summarized based on health syndromesbefore the class semester and at the end of the class semester. The description of each student’s health issueis kept as the original description. If the report is written in Chinese (for Chinese class) we translated themeaning of the syndrome as close as we can.

Measurements: Data is quantified based on student’s description; the words “better”, “100% recovered”, “nochange” are interpreted as “syndrome is improved”, “syndrome is fully recovered”, and “syndrome is the same”respectively.
