The cast resin busway is becoming a necessity in environments that

demand cleanliness. Electrical manufacturing facilities and hospitals

are heavy users of the busway. As the popularity of busway systems

has increased, commercial structures, such as shopping malls, office

buildings, large hotels and other venues where large gatherings of

people congregate, have also adopted this cost effective and

superior choice.

Another popular trend has been the adoption of the cast resin

busway in residential structures. Designers of large mansions have

Conductor

The TBC cast resin busway systems

are offered in two choices of

conductor material. For clients whose

need for conductivity is more exacting,

copper conductors offer a 99.9%+

conductivity rate. For customers

whose needs are not as demanding,

aluminum busway conductors offer a

conductivity rate of 57%+.

Materials

Both types of busways are

manufactured in renowned mills with

state of the art machinery. The

surface of each conductor is tin plated

to achieve the optimum conductivity

and contact effect.The TBC cast resin busway systems

use resin materials and “whole set”

formulas supplied by brand name

manufacturers in order to assure

optimal electrical and mechanical

performance, in addition to water

proofing and self –extinguishing

features. With F class insulation, the

TBC busway can operate safely at

temperatures up to 155°C. The resin

material adds a high rate of Filler

Function:

�Flame retardant rating complies to IEC60331 at 750° C for 3 hours, no short circuits occur.

�Fire resistance rating complies to CNS12514, JIS A1304 840° C for 30 minutes, no short circuit

occurs.

� IP68 dust proof and water proof compliance under IEC60529 and CNS14165. Our systems can

be subjected to a fixed power voltage and submerged in water up to 1m deep without short

circuiting.

�The TBC busway can withstand operating in overload at Class F standards. Reliable heat

resistant impacting and heat twisting permit the busway to operate in a state of overload for 2

hours.

�The TBC busway is connected by movable joint stacks, allowing for speedy installation and

disassembly. If a diagram needs to be modified for designation changing, loading expansion or

�The PLUG-IN UNIT is compatible with various brands of MCCB and can be inserted when the

designated stages throughout the system.

�The TBC busway offers an economic advantage with its low cost and flexible design, which

allows end-users to change a designation or make an adjustment with little time and effort.

space.

and in case an alteration or expansion in power distribution is needed, the busway sections can be

changed or replaced with a minimum of down time.

� The use of a dual bolts joint makes for an even and larger spread of compression on the copper

joint surfaces, providing a more reliable connection between busways. In the process, these joints are

able to maintain their integrity against temperature fluctuations caused by long term usage and

loading alterations.

� The busway joints are held by 4 movable bolts. The tags are designed to fall off after the torque

screws are fully tightened. When the covers are locked, as per sequence, the joint and the sold silicone

are enough to seal the busway at an IP68 waterproof rating.

Plug-in unit

�The design construction of the Plug-In Unit allows for maximum efficiency with little to no waste in alterations

or expansion processes.

�The TBC Plug-In busways can be reserved and ordered as per strategic placement, depending on the

customer’s needs in quantity and position. Once the user adjusts the load capacity, the PIU can be safely and

conveniently inserted and power can be guided from the nearest slot.

�The TBC Plug-In Unit can be inserted without interrupting power transmission, making installation rapid and

convenient.

Specification for cast resin busway

1. Scope

1.1 This specification, together with the data sheet(s), covers the minimum requirements for the design,

manufacture, inspection and testing for cast resin busway.

1.2 Busway system includes feeder type and plug-in type that are composed of straight section, elbow section,

plug-in connector, plug-in unit and other related accessories.

1.3 Busways shall be constructed and tested in accordance with the minimum applicable requirements of the

latest editions of standards and codes:IEC60439-1、IEC60439-2、IEC60331、IEC60332、IEC60529、CNS14286、CNS11174、CNS11359、JIS8364.

2. Condition

2.1 Duty: Continuous.

2.2 Altitude: Below 2,000m from sea level

2.3 Ambient Temperature : 40OC Max., -5 OC Min., 35OC Avg.2.3 Ambient Temperature : 40OC Max., -5 OC Min., 35OC Avg.

3. Technical description&functionality

3.1 The busway system operation rated voltage : below 1000V

3.2 Types: 3P3W and 3P4W, 50%PE or 100%PE.

3.3 Dielectric withstands 3500V for 1 minute, without a breakdown during testing.

3.4 Temperature rise limitation: Continuous loading with full capacity with maximum ambient temperature not

higher than 40OC , any part of the busway surface temperature rise shall be not more than 55K.

3.5 Fireproof busway shall comply with CNS12514, tolerating direct flame exposure with 840OC , 30minutes .

3.6 IP rating shall comply with IEC60529 IP68.

4. Structure

4.1 The full copper or aluminum surface is tin plated or can be specially requested in silver plating as per customer.

4.2 Busway system shall provide an independent grounding conductor and its capacity must allow a minimum

ambient temperature not higher than 40℃. Any part of the busway surface temperature rise shall not be more

than 55K.

4.3 Busway shall be of the entirely enclosed by copper or aluminum conductor bars, cast from epoxy resin.

Conductors between phases are entirely insultaed and sealed by epoxy resin that is resistant to dust, water,

moisture, magnetic, chemical corrosion.

4.4 Busway systems can be easily re-jointed or re-connected in order to adapt to a change in design or system load

requirements. A protection rating of IP68 and the same flame retardant functionality remains constant, even

when the busway is re-jointed or re-connected.

4.5 Busway joint enclosure insulation materials: silicon based or equivalent, gasket or packing formed to allow

mechanically compressed sealing functionallty. It also allows several openings of the joint enclosure without

losing its IP68 water & dust proof capability.

4.6 Busway conductors are fastened by using fixed torque compression bolts that pass through conductors and

fasten with nuts on the other side. Fixed torque bolts and nuts allow installer(s) to tighten and compress joint

connections with a standard wrench, as opposed to a torque gauge. This allows for consistent joint compression

over an even amount of time.

5. Plug In Unit

5.1 Busway section is 4.2 meter in straight line length. This allows for 5 plug-in maximum opening provisions in order

to branch out service loads.

5.2 Maximum capacity of PIU is 2000A.

5.3 Plug-in Unit accommodates MCCB to allow service loads to branch out. An interlocking device between PIU and

Busway system should be used to prevent accidents. PIU can be removed from busway system when MCCB is

switched to the OFF position. PIU cannot be removed from busway system when MCCB is in ON position.

5.4 Plug-in Unit provides an operational handle bar and MCCB provides an ON-OFF indicator.

5.5 Plug-in Unit complies with IP42 minimum protection rating. Optional IP54 protection rating is available upon

request per each individual project.

6. Installation

6.1 The installation interval between busway systems must be in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations,

all the iron pieces must be zinc plated.

6.2 To install vertical busway, the spring hanger must be applied to support the system on each floor.

6.3 A wall flange is necessary if busway installation is penetrating a wall. If necessary, fire resistant material must be

filled in the fire proof area.

6.4 When connecting the joint, the torque screw must be checked. Correct pressure in tightening will be indicated by

the yellow tag falling off the apparatus.

7. Submittals of drawings and technique datas

7.1 In additional to the complete documentations provided by the contractor, the followings drawings and datas

must be submitted to the customer and designers.

8. Plant inspection

8.1 Project owner or representative or project designing engineer(s) has the right to request a plant inspection

at any reasonable time or schedule. The representative has the option to choose part or section of the whole

project to conduct a full load temperature rise test and / or protection rating test ( for dust proof and water

barrier ) in addition to IEC compliance tests. Manufacturer should not refuse, nor stall, when such a request for

testing is made. The manufacturer may offer third party testing by using 4000A or above load samples as

standard capacity and unconditionally absorb all testing tooling, manpower, and authentication expenses

associated with this rating.

9. Test

9.1 After the busway system is installed, the contractor must finish insulation resistance test and results must be

approved before the power is turned on.

9.2 Prior to turning on the power, the connected phases shall be inspected and their accuracy confirmed to assure

the equipment is working properly and safely.
