Town centre walking tour.The place to park for our tours is the St John’s car park, which is free for two hours on a weekday and all day at the weekend.

The postcode of the car park is NN1 1HA

St John’s Halls.Starting outside our town centre student accommodation, St John’s Hall of Residence, head up the hill on Guildhall Road.

The Guildhall.At the top of the road you will see one of Northampton’s grandest buildings,the Guildhall. This has been the hub of Northampton since 1864.

Market Square.You should now be standing in Northampton’s Town Square where our open air market is held.

Wood Hill / Abington Street.From here, turn left along St Giles Square until you reach Prezzo and Nando’s on your right. Continue up Wood Hill passing Abington Street on your right. There are two indoor shopping centres off Abington Street - The Grosvenor Centre and Market Walk. Both offer high street shopping to meet everyone’s taste and have many boutique shops unique to Northampton.

E Northampton Bus Station.On the corner of Silver Street is the Bus Station offering transport to and from our current campuses and the train station, with easy access into London, Birmingham and Milton Keynes. Students who have a valid student card can travel between campuses on weekdays for free and into town for just £1. Normal rates apply at the weekend.

F The Drapery.Turn left into The Drapery and head down the hill. Here you will see some of the town’s unique shops, banking facilities and department stores. At the end of this road you will see Bridge Street and Gold Street in front of you, where you will find most of the student nightlife.

G Tourist Information Centre.Follow George Row passing the All Saints Church and café on your left. The tourist information on your right provides details of all events taking place within the town. Follow the road straight ahead where you will go past The Old Bank again. When you get to ASK restaurant, go down the hill where you will get back to St John’s Hall of Residence at the bottom.

Waterside walking tour.Opening in September 2018, our brand new Waterside Campus is just a few minutes walk from Northampton Town Centre. Located on the banks of the River Nene, it will create a lively leisure, social and retail area for you to live and learn.

St John’s Halls.To take a look at Waterside from our St John’s Hall of Residence, head towards St John’s car park on Swan Street. Make your way down Swan Street heading towards Morrisons supermarket.

Becket’s Park.Cross the road using the pedestrian crossing. You should now be able to see the entrance to Becket’s Park, which is a large rural space along the River Nene.

Take a leisurely walk through Becket’sPark, enjoying the scenery of themarina as you go.

Nunn Mills Road.At the end of the park, walk down Nunn Mills Road and continue along the public footpath. From here you will be able to see Waterside Campus being built, next to the Avon Headquarters. Please note, access to the construction site is strictly prohibited.

Waterside Campus construction.To see more of Waterside, keep heading along the public footpath towards the Senate building in front of you. From here, use the public footpath to look into the campus.

River Nene.Walk back over the bridge and turn back into Becket’s Park. Walking along the river Nene, you will be able to see Northampton Marina and Waterside Campus in the background.

You are now heading back towards the St John’s Hall of Residence where your tour started.
