Some parts of speech: Noun= a person, place, thing or idea. A noun can be made plural (usually by adding an “s” to the end.) Example: Due to all of our crazy antics last night, I have much languor today. Adjective = a type of word that describe a noun. Example: I felt distraught at the girl’s lascivious behavior. Verb = an action word. Verb tenses can be changed to be past, present or future tense. Example: She averted her eyes from her mother because she did not want to be chastened . Adverb = A type of word that describes a verb. Usually (but not always), they end in “-ly”

Take notes on the following information and title it “Parts of Speech”:

Part of speech refers to the way a word can be used or the type of word that a particular word is. Some parts of speech:

Noun= a person, place, thing or idea. A noun can be made plural (usually by adding an “s” to the end.) Example: Due to all of our crazy antics last night, I have much

languor today. Adjective = a type of word that describe a noun.

Example: I felt distraught at the girl’s lascivious behavior. Verb = an action word. Verb tenses can be changed

to be past, present or future tense. Example: She averted her eyes from her mother because she

did not want to be chastened. Adverb = A type of word that describes a verb.

Usually (but not always), they end in “-ly” Example: She turned in her work tacitly; she walked contritely

to the front of the room, feeling badly about not having studied the night before.
