Spend a week living alongside one of our playground building teams playground building teams helping to change a local community’s play space. See directly where your fundraising is going and help with the building of a playground.

DiscoverExperience nature along the Nile with giant eagles, monitor lizards and much more to see as you take on the wild waters.
Take on the first 50km of white water on the Nile in a range of kayaks. Rapids, river camping and island stays on this once in a life time trek.
Challenge
Preparation: EAP will support you every step of the way with your
fundraising from stash to ideas and organised events and the KTN
team will provide advice prior to the trip on the climate, equipment
needed and general travel advice if desired.
Source of the Nile:Source of the Nile: On arrival in Uganda you’ll head to Speke’s
source of the Nile, in Jinja, where the river starts to flow out of Lake
Victoria, for your first, introductory kayak session. This is a relaxing
sunset cruise aimed at helping you acclimatize to the river.
White Water Adventure: White Water Adventure: The next five days of your trip will be jam
packed with action. To begin with you’ll start at Kayak the Nile’s base
on the Bujagali Lake where you’ll learn all the strokes and technique
necessary to tackle the first 50kms of the Nile and it’s world famous
white water rapids. On day three, you’ll try your first white water! Day
four will seeing you continuing your white water journey downstream
where you’ll finish the day wild camping right next to the rapids. On
day five, you’ll change craft to a more friendly sit-on-top kayak as on day five, you’ll change craft to a more friendly sit-on-top kayak as on
this day you’ll tackle up the biggest white water yet. The final night
is spent at paradise island and on the following day you’ll complete
your journey, having kayaked the first 50kms of world’s longest river!
Volunteer:By spending a week living in a local community and helping our
playground team to build a new playground for a school full of very
excited children, you will be able to see the difference your fundrais-
ing has made
Extension trips:After your week on the river and a week volunteering you will have
some time to join one of the extension trips we have on offer. You
can walk with rhinos and see all the ‘Big Five’ on safari or spend a
few more days perfecting your newfound kayaking skills!

How to get involved: Summer 2015 will be the first year that ‘Take on the Nile’ will be
running as a challenge project and we are looking for universities
to take up the challenge of recruiting 12 people per uni to this
new and exciting challenge. If you want something that is

During the 2014 Nile River Festival the
founders of Kayak the Nile and EAP
spent time on the river together and
the ’Take on the Nile’ challenge was
born.

adventure not to be missed!
Why ‘Take on the Nile’?
EAP is a charity set up by students that uses the motivation of
students to make huge changes to the lives of children across
Uganda. As EAP was born through RAG, we have always worked
with universities and aim to give the best experiences to students
at the most affordable price.
Over 90% of our funding comes from students and thanks to stuOver 90% of our funding comes from students and thanks to stu-
dents up and down the UK EAP has built over 50 playgrounds
and are planning to open a new work shop in the North of
Uganda to work alongside War Child, VSO and Unicef to build
playgrounds for children in refugee camps. The ‘Take on the Nile’
Challenge’ will go a long way to helping us build more
playgrounds for children who really do need some joy and fun in
their lives.
