Performance Opportunities There is a busy concert programme which includes annual events such as the Christmas at Rastrick Concert and a Spring Music Festival, which provides solo, instrumental and vocal performance opportunities. Throughout the year, there are smaller events including assembly performances, recital evenings and visits to associate primary schools to showcase the talents of the students. The school’s musical year ends with the Music Festival and Young Musician of the Year competition. Previous winners of our competition have gone on to study music at leading conservatoires such as the Royal Northern College of Music. The Music Department also supports many community events including the switching on of the Christmas lights in Brighouse; being guests of the Brighouse & Rastrick Band at their annual Christmas concert; local church events and supporting fundraising events for local charities. Many students are entered into the annual Huddersfield Mrs Sunderland Festival of Music, Speech & Drama and we have an outstanding record of success in a range of categories.
