HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH A public lecture by Kenneth Roth, Executive Director, Human Rights Watch Moderated by Jerusha Owino, Lecturer, Strathmore Law School July 14, 2015 at 3:00pm Strathmore Law School, Zumaridi Room Roth will draw on examples of Human Rights Watch’s work around the world addressing counterterrorism operations that run afoul of human rights, including the CIA’s torture, indiscriminate attacks in the Middle East, and other threats to civil society and the media. He will highlight what East Africa should learn from America’s and others’ failures. Kenneth Roth has investigated human rights abuses around the globe, focusing on justice and accountability, military conduct in war, the human rights policies of the United States and the United Nations. He frequently writes for major newspapers and magazines and holds meetings with senior officials of governments and agencies around the world.
