We will bediscussing the

following topics:

What we saw while walking

through Genk...

A lot of menoutside, and

woman at home

1. The introductionof our topic

So wewere curious

for

We decided to focus on;

Genders & WorkWe wanted to test the current“job & gender” situation by

interviewing citizens of Genk

1. The introductionof our topic

Oh, I agreewith that one!

We wrote down some pretty provocativestatements...

2. Our first test

We went outto the street & test

different statements

2. Our first test

3. Evaluation andpreparation

Some people seemed to be scaredof our signs, but we receivedinteresting respondse;

“Men don’t knowanything about

house-work”

“I would stayhome for my kidsif my wife wanted

a career”

“Women shouldstay at home for

the children”

Your

opinion

here

They should look less ‘scary’ to our audience!

3. Evaluation andpreparation

We combined the new opinionsand the old ones and ironed them onto 10 different t-shirts.

4. InterventionWe prepared the interventionby answering these questions;

What?Printing provocative

statements on shirts & hang them on lines in the city.

Ask people to choose a statement and interview them.

Let them reflect their opinion and maybe they will develop

their own one.

4. InterventionWe prepared the interventionby answering these questions;

To generate awareness, get insight in the current

situation, make people discuss it and hopefully changing

some people’s mind to accept a broader view.

Why?

4. InterventionWe prepared the interventionby answering these questions;

To raise attention in society about the topic

“genderspecific predjudiceat work”

What for?

4. InterventionWe prepared the interventionby answering these questions;

City Centre of Genk “stadsplein”

on May 18th, 201514h- 16h

Where &when?

4. InterventionWe prepared the interventionby answering these questions;

No specific target group; All ages, genders, cultures, …

Only requirement: Non-tourists, english/dutch

language

Who?

4. InterventionWe prepared the interventionby answering these questions;

Raising attention by using a “Traditional” scene of laundry but exposing the opposide message on the

laundry itself.

Hanging up shirts on lines, between trees.

How?

4. Intervention

atopic

Let’s see howit went!

5. ConclusionIndividuals don’t like to

discuss the topics becausethey are afraid of saying something wrong, but ingroups they do dare toengage in a discussion.

People are moreopen to gender equality than

we first thought.Conclusion:

Not all women areaware of the “working-

woman”-acceptanceby other Genkians.

The results;

We could testthe influence by

interviewing beforeand after.
