From the desk of the President ...

Hi Skyliners: We are heading into December and the Holiday Season is here. We have a lot of cool things com-ing up in the future. Richard Ebsary has graciously offered to host our annual Holiday Party in his beautiful Coral Gables home. Thank you Richard! We will be presenting the Florida City Kindergarten class Santa Hats Candy Canes and Hand Puppets paid for in part from donations from our Holiday Party. Anyone wishing to take part in this event should email Clark Boggs at [email protected] or call me at (305) 394-1367 or Bob H. at [email protected] This event will be Monday, December 17th. We are also in need of people to host events, no host or contact person means no event so step up and help out, please contact Clark Boggs at [email protected] or Bob Habenicht at [email protected] Jump on board and lend a helping hand. It’s not hard to host a happy hour or meet and greet. We are in need of members to fill the positions of, (First Vice President / Membership Chairmen) and (Second Vice President/Social Chairmen). Please contact me if you would be interested in these positions at [email protected] or (305) 394-1367 and I would be glad to fill you in on the responsibilities and duties. Any Non Board Member wishing to bring up a subject or make a suggestion at a Board Meeting needs to submit it in writing to a Board Member by email so we may have a chance to maybe get an answer for you or at least put some thought into your con-cern. The person making the request will have ten minutes under old business or new business which ever applies. The request must be submitted seven days prior to the Board Meeting. Your tall club has taken over the Meetup Group Tall Professionals. Most of their events will mirror our events. It doesn't cost anything to register with the Tall Professionals and you don't have to add a photo. But if you R.S.V.P. through the Meetup group, they will see who is coming and will be more likely to join us. Click here to sign up: Tall Professionals of South Flori-da . We are also looking for someone who has a good understanding of Facebook to keep the informational page on our club updated. Here are links to our Meetup and Facebook sites: Tall Professionals of South Florida (Miami, FL) - Meetup and Florida Sky-liners on Facebook Here are two Web sites you should check out and use. The Tall Club of Miami site TallMiami.org and new-ly updated and more youthful appearing TCI Web site at tall.org Tall Clubs International. Here you will find information on TCI and other TCI member club functions. I hope to see everyone soon at a club weekend or event. Think Tall Clark Boggs

Editor’s Thoughts ...

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you on December 8th in Coral Gables. We had a beautiful bike ride in Palm Beach. Next bike ride will be Shark Valley Moonlight Bike Ride in January. We need members to help us on the Board and we desperately need members willing to host an event. Hosting an event does not mean having the event at your home or apartment. It means planning the event (where to have it, arriving early to greet attendees, making reservations if necessary). Please contact me to host an event or for more information at [email protected] or 954.294.0822. Does anyone have any ideas for events they would like on the calendar? Is there any event you would like on the calendar? Please email or call me with your ideas. Bob Habenicht, aka Ed, aka Jayson Blair, email me at [email protected] Editor / Trustee, Florida Skyliners of Miami / Tall Club of Miami Treasurer, Florida Skyliners of Miami / Tall Club of Miami Acting Social and Membership Chairperson

from our staging area which was just north of the Flagler

Museum in Palm Beach. I like to follow everyone to

make sure nobody gets left behind. I got out my older

camera which can take photos of the group ahead of me

while I am moving and discovered both batteries, which

I had charged the day before our ride, had no charge left,

so no photos could be taken unless I stopped and got out

my cell phone which can take great photos but not while

moving. So, not a lot of riding action photos for this

event. Rats! The Lake Trail was as beautiful as ever. We

noted new construction underway along the Lake Trail,

including a new dock and some homes being replaced.

We continued to the Palm Beach Inlet at the north end of

the island. We found the damage from Hurricane Maria

had been repaired and the dock was now open. We

paused briefly and started our return trip. Getting back

to our starting point we continued to the southern part of

the trail where we stopped at a HUGE Kapok Tree. Note

we had already passed Old Bethesda by the Sea Church,

the oldest church on Palm Beach, as well as the oldest

house, and the oldest house still on the original founda-

tion. As we prepared to return to our truck to pack up the

bikes, Al and our son Robert announced they were going

to ride their bikes down to the Old Key Lime House in

Lantana, so would meet us there. We wished them a safe

ride and hoped to see them soon. We packed the bikes

and gave them time for a good head start so we would

be able to see them along A1A. Sure enough we found

them when we were over half way to the restaurant.

They declined our offer for a ride so we continued and

Jeri, Robert, Stan, Carina, Al, Mara, and Clark ready to depart. This time I fit myself in along with the rest of the riders.

Riders spread out on the path as we pass a new dock being built.

Here is a shot of Mara and Clark with the others in the distance.

searched for a parking place. We found a spot in a park

on the east side of town and awaited their arrival which

didn’t take long. The bikes all secured we headed to the

and hope more can join us next time. Thanks to Carina

for many of the photos. Bob

Yay, the dock is open! During our last ride the dock was closed due to hurricane damage.

the foliage.

The landscaping along the trail is beautiful. Jeri in red, then Carina, Robert, Mara, and Clark.

CLEANING UP

I started some cleaning up in my office and encountered some old Skyliner stuff I thought y’all might be interest-

ed in seeing. At the bottom of the box were markup sheets from a newsletter I published in 2008. I know you are

not interested in that, but I also found a list of our t-shirt slogans from 1972 to 1990. All the TCI clubs had t-shirts

with various slogans for sale at Weekends and at TCI Convention. This list may be something that Pam M put

together as she spent a lot of time creating historical archives for our club (thank you Pam!!!). See following pag-

es for this and more documents. I also found a flyer for the last Weekend our club co-hosted in 2009 along with

my reservation notes, the All Tall Florida Weekend. I also found a “Club Survey” sheet from the past, and a TCI

flyer from 2008. I hope you enjoy this archive data. Bob
