tan + adjective + como (as + adjective +as)

ex. En mi club, levantar pesas es tan popular como correr.

To say that things are not equal, you can use

the negative.

En el club atlético, levantar pesas no es tan

popular como correr.

tanto/tanta + noun + como (as much + noun + as)

ex. Carla no tiene tanto interés en la música clásicacomo Juan.

tantos/tantas + noun + como (as many + noun + as)

ex. La banda tiene tantos miembros como la orquesta.

Note that tanto agrees in gender and

number with what is being compared.

Hay tantas actrices en el ensayo como

actores.

Making comparisons

In your groups – develop two sentences that use tan/tanto

1 tan +como sentence

1 tanto/as + como sentence

Write your sentences on poster paper.

Include an illustration for each sentence.

One person from each group will present the sentences.

Group Roles:

Scribe –Writes the sentences on

the poster.

Editor – edits sentences for

accuracy of grammar

Illustrator – designs and executes

illustrations

Manager – gets materials, and

ensures group is on task.
