Superior’s Tank Cleaning and Fuel Filtration Service Fuels today are not nearly as stable as they were in years past. Changes in refinery techniques to meet larger global demands have led to lower quality fuel that can degrade rapidly. Enhancing the problem was the introduction of Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel and E10 gasoline; both of which are inherently vulnerable to moisture, water and air (specifically the bacteria that resides in each). Today’s diesel fuel is also less stable and can degrade leaving asphaltene sediment in the tank bottom.

Superior’s tank cleaning and fuel filtration system utilizes specialized equipment with a number of filters to include; 2 to 30 micron particulate filters, and 10 to 30 micron hydrosorb filters to remove water and sludge from the tank. Superior’s service generates minimal waste and allows your facility to remain operational during operation.

Why is this service needed now…

we’ve never had this problem before?

Here is what the major fuel companies say:

“Use a fuel quality management service to regularly test the fuel, and, as Chevron:necessary, polish it by filtration through portable filters.

“Since ULSD was introduced to retail in 2006, the diesel fuel industry has Shell: identified an increase in the presence of water in diesel fuel contributing to an increase in the presence of microbial growth in fuel storage tanks. The entire industry has noticed this increase.” http://www.shellsource.com/NR/rdonlyres/enxka6gzds6xkq2m4sh2u3k2s7if6hzv2urhuhoujah444awggh3eyp5e2ntahec5y4rpk6bcmdkjj/WaterManagementinStorageTanksInformationDocFINAL.pdf

“Diesel fuel can be stored 6 months to 1 year without significant Exxon Mobil: quality degradation. Storage for longer periods can be accomplished through use of periodic filtrations and addition of fuel stabilizers and biocides.” http://www.exxon.com/USA-English/GFM/fuels_quality_diesel_faq.aspx

“As diesel gets older a fine sediment and gum forms in the diesel brought about BP: by the reaction of diesel components with oxygen from the air. Establish a regular fuel maintenance program to ensure that water and dirt is removed from storage tanks. This will also remove any chance for fungus to grow.” “Water allows the growth of fungus and bacteria, these produce natural by-products such as organic acids which make the fuel unstable. “
