Berg Engineering Project.

Research by Hamza Shaikh.

Mechanism:

Electrical or electro-hydraulic mechanisms can be incorporated enabling the Folding textile based fabric to deploy and retract easily, once triggered using the remote.

List of Fire Retardant Materials:

PBI Burnstop Twaron Noflan Nomex (a DuPont trademark) Arselon (Khimvolokno trademark) coated nylon Carbon Foam M5 fiber Kevlar Melamine Pyrovatex fr cotton Technora Modacrylic Wool

Fire Retardant Materials used in Textiles: These can be used in our Situation.

Wool

It is the textile fibre obtained from sheep and certain other animals, including cashmere from goats. It has the quality of being elastic.

Wool ignites at a higher temperature than cotton and some synthetic fibres. It has a lower rate of flame spread, a lower rate of heat release, a lower heat of combustion, and does not melt or drip Wool carpets are specified for high safety environments, such as trains and aircraft. Wool is usually specified for garments for firefighters, soldiers, and others in occupations where they are exposed to the likelihood of fire.

Nomex

It is a registered trademark for flame-resistant meta-aramid material. It is sold in both fibre and sheet forms and is used as a fabric wherever resistance from heat and flame is required. It is used in various applications including the helmets of fire fighters. Nomex is best known as a barrier to fire and heat.

The below link is a useful journal for Nomex.

Polybenzimidazole fiber

Polybenzimidazole fibre is a synthetic fibre with a very high melting point. It has exceptional thermal and chemical stability and does not readily ignite. This material has the capability of resisting flame

Twaron

It is also a heat resistant and strong synthetic fibre. It is used mainly for Industrial purposes. Some of the main uses include flame-resistant clothing, protective clothing and helmets, cut-fast or heat-hardy gloves, sporting goods, textiles, and ballistic vests.
