    No "ody could tell when the tantra cult originated# &t appeared as a parallel to yogic cultwhich contained similar physiological postures and "reathing eercises and also the ultimate goal

    o! sel! reali4ation and uni!ication with the supreme was the same# But they di!!ered radically as

    regards the approach towards our desires, emotions and passions, especially those pertaining to!ood and se ha"its# The yoga cult considered all our physical desires as (ices and suggested

    repression and a"stention !rom the (ery "eginning# n the other hand tantra considered our

    worldly desires as natural and endowed us "y god# They are (ices so long as they remain crudeand con!ined to transitory grati!ication o! desires# So the tantric is recogni4e them as reality and

    without repressing them he are to "e ta"oo !ree a"out all desires !or se and !ood# 3is endea(or

    should "e to transcend the crude aspect and get all these desires su"limated to a higher plain# &nthis way se ultimately transcends to a le(el where the physical union o! the male and the !emale

    transcends to the cosmic union o! 5purusa5 and 5prariti5#

    The !irst e(idence o! these esoteric cults dates "ac to a"out 6000 B#C# Sculptures o! yogic

    postures ha(e "een disco(ered in eca(ations pertaining to &ndus (alley ci(ili4ation# The !irst

    literary e(idence o! esoteric cult is $thar(a /eda which is not considered as pious "y theorthodo /edic school# Later on there are innumera"le e(idences in Buddhist and 7ain tets and

    cult emerged "orrowing hea(ily !rom the physical rites o! tantra#The rigorous tantra cult o! the Sata school is popularly nown as tantrism in &ndia# This

    school "elong to the /amachari Sata cult# Their descriptions o! inner human anatomy and

    physiology are the closest to modern "io%scienti!ic disco(eries o! human economy# The tantra

    cult de(eloped through o! millennia long trial and error "ut the tantrics had no scienti!ictheoretical nowledge and so they mied up mysticism and etra mundane speculati(e

    philosophy with tantra# Their goal too was mystic, to resol(e the mystery o! li!e and death andunion with the creator o! the uni(erse#

    These charas rest at important ner(e pleuses, ma'or points o! contact "etween the central,

    sympathetic and parasympathetic ner(ous systems and some ma'or endocrine glands#The tantrics lie the yogis "elie(e that our main source o! li!e !orce and (ital energy is

    stored in a dormant !orm in the coccy# They get this shrouded in mystery "y (isuali4ing that

    goddess undalini as the source o! our li!e !orce lies dormant in the coccy in a three and a hal!!old coil#

    rituals consistently and with sincerity#

    or practicing these !iner asans, "reathing eercises, meditation and auto suggestions oneshould not go to the !orests, hills or cemeteries, nor should one worship gods and goddesses#

    Necessity o! rituals with human sulls or seletons, animal or human sacri!ices to the goddess,
