John Buzzell—Buzzell is a Senior Field Service Technician for the Georgia-Pacific Containerboard Division. He has over 20 years of experience in the corrugated industry. He has worked as a Corrugator Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, Quality Manager, Process Manager and Plant Manager. He has experience in Box Plants and Sheet Feeders in multiple positions. Rick Croker —Croker joined TAPPI in 1978 and has over 40 years of experience in the Corrugated Industry. He teaches in areas of: equipment repairs, upgrades, preventative maintenance; adhesives; equipment installations; engineering audits on the corrugator and press/finishing; productivity upgrades; waste reduction, Centerlining, and much more which he provides to his customers. Together Mr. Buzzell and Mr. Croker will lead the seminar instructors in teaching participants how to increase productivity, improve quality, and minimize waste. How you can get the maximum yield of boxes from the paperboard consumed. Ways to maintain quality while reaching maximum corrugator speeds. And methods to improve production. Participants are encouraged to bring production problems. Each training section covers understanding the function of each piece of equipment mechanically; how to troubleshoot problems in a logical sequence; adhesive preparation/testing; Iodine stain analysis, warp control, simple but essential preventative maintenance checks to be performed by the crews, hands-on mechanical equipment checks. Training covers understanding the functions of each piece of equipment mechanically and how each component affects the runnability and quality of board produced. This seminar focuses on troubleshooting techniques to solve day to day combining problems and to identify weak mechanical areas of the corrugator. Seminar Faculty Greg Close—Close is with Jasol Asia Pacific. John L. Donahue—Donahue is President of Donahue & Associates International Inc. He has more than 45 years of experience in the corrugated, paper and plastic industries. Donahue has a BS in Marine Engineering from the US Merchant Marine Academy. He and his associates specialize in steam, wastewater, transportation, drinking water, storm water, and general municipal engineering services. Mr. Donahue will present steam basics – fundamentals, flash steam, heat transfer, water treatment; equipment – boilers, deaerators, condensate recovery tanks, pumps, piping, steam traps; corrugator steam systems; testing and troubleshooting; and tasks and standard operating procedures regarding steam.

Alan Ives—Alan Ives is director of product technology at Kadant Johnson Inc., a global supplier of steam systems, rotary joints, and related steam specialty equipment. He has more than 20 years of experience in fluid handling technologies and has worked in a variety of engineering and product development roles serving the paper, corrugating, and other process industries. In his current role, he has responsibility for the Engineering and New Product Development groups at Kadant Johnson. As the market shifts to lighter weight grades and higher speeds, new corrugator roll designs and steam systems are required to achieve maximum heat transfer, high production rates, and uniform roll temperature profiles. This presentation reviews the findings from a two-year study of various corrugator roll designs, their performance in high-speed single-facers, and the impact on steam systems design and steam handling equipment, including rotary steam joints and siphons. Attendees to this presentation will: Learn how corrugator roll designs impact steam system design and equipment selection. Discover how proper equipment selection can reduce costs by increasing reliability and maximizing uptime. Gain knowledge about modern steam system design and advanced rotary joint and siphon technologies to improve operating efficiency.

Steve Nerney—Nerney is a Sr. Process Engineer with MarquipWardUnited. Steve is an engineer with a Masters in Business Administration and 28 years industry experience. He is currently installation and training leader for MarquipWardUnited. Prior responsibilities include plant engineer and production manager for Inland Container box plants including new plant start ups. Mr. Nerney will be presenting practical tips and tactics for high speed consistent splicing performance, corrugator roll care, high speed consistent dry end and order change performance, and corrugator automation Joseph Siciliano- Siciliano is 24 years has focused primarily on the paper side of Albany International and the last two focusing on their global corrugator business. His background has included roles in sales, marketing; as well a product management has provided a unique perspective into the corrugator marketplace. With a deep knowledge of the paper machine business, he has been able to bring new direction and focus on bringing value to this industry. His presentation will focus on overall corrugator belt runnability issues and what are the best industry practices to optimize performance. Most belt related issues can be attributed to these factors, all of which are critical to optimizing belt performance. Specific topics that will be reviewed are: Belt Maintenance, Belt Wear issues, Belt Cleaning and Conditioning, Belt

Guiding, Slippage Issues, and Belt Installation.
