The meeting was called to order by President Karen Mays at 2:45 PM at the site of the Conyers Kennel Club match. The minutes of the February meeting were approved as mailed in Tara Tails. President’s Report: Karen talked about the levels of Grand Champion awards – bronze, silver, gold and platinum. She thanked Martha f or helping with the raffle table and the Nort h Georgia H ound Association show in Perry. She mentioned the proposed judges for the NGHA show in 2012 and asked for input. Secretary’s Report: No correspondence. Treasurer’s Report: Linda reported a balance on January 31 of $7561.64, consisting of $4441.91 in the general account and $3119.66 in the rescue account. All the bills from the November 2010 show have been paid and we had a loss of $1295.15. Committee Reports: No reports from Advertising, Breed Referral, Hospitality, Newsletter, or Lure Coursing. Education: The Meet the Breed at Woofgang Bakery went very well. Karen thanked Jyll for setting it up. Meeting Minutes continued on backside Ways and Means: Maddie sent a report that she had set up the Facebook page for the club. She has the design done for the yard Afghan Hound statue. Match: Linda J. suggested waiting until Sept ember for a match because of the heat. Jan suggested having the match with the Cherokee Rose Cluster i n August, indoors after Best in Sh ow on Saturday evening. Everyone agreed, and Carol Simmons wil l judge. It was also suggested that we have a P arade of Rescu ed Dogs. Minutes: April 30th Meeting continued

Show: 1. Mickey reported that all the paperwork is complete for the shows. 2. Martha announced that we would have aMardi Gras theme this year. 3. Corinne agreed to design a T shirt logo.

Trophy: Linda reported that we will use club medallions for first place one day and dog bone trays the other day. She iscontacting vendors for the other trophies.

Election of New Members: First reading for Shirley Newmont, and Roy and Calvena Evetts were tabled until they attenda meeting.

Unfinished Business: 1. Fred reported from the Nominating Committee: Karen Mays – President, Mickey Koss – VP,Jan Lucree – Secretary, Linda Jackson – Treasurer, Board – Linda Shipley, Kayleen Thomas and Cate Gardner. Therewere no nominations from the floor. 2. It was decided to make awards for Rescue, Breeder, Lifetime Achievement and

Good Sportsmanship every three years. A President’s Award may be made annually.

New Business: 1. Cate reported that Ellen Jones died recently and left her artwork to the club for rescue. 2. Theelections will be held at the May Annual Meeting. The meeting will be Saturday, May 28th at 5:00 PM at Mimi’sRestaurant. Jan will make the reservation and send a notice and directions. 3. The AHCA National will be in Atlanta in2012. It will be held at the Sheraton Gateway Atlanta Hotel, beginning on Saturday, October 27 and ending onWednesday, October 31. Thursday and Friday, November 1 and 2 are booked for regional specialties. The CarolinaAfghan Hound Club will be on Saturday. It is anticipated that Tara will hold a specialty on Thursday, however, thesecretary has not received any notification from AHCA. The Carolina Club received a letter. The Thursday – Fridaydates are in conflict with a new four day Knoxville/Oak Ridge Circuit. We will have to ask them to exclude AfghanHounds those two days. If the all-breed clubs do not agree, the AHCA could switch days and have the regionalspecialties on Monday and Tuesday and the National on Wednesday – Friday. A national specialty does not have toseek permission from an all-breed club for conflicting dates. The AHCA will contact the Tennessee all-breed clubs aboutexcluding Afghan Hounds.Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 PM,
