TARBIYAH SCHOOL DRESS CODE

School uniform creates unity in the school environment and its importance cannot be overemphasized. The uniform

also creates a sense of responsibility. Getting prepared for learning is also a part of the overall learning process. Your

help and support as a parent is crucial in meeting the learning objectives we set for Tarbiyah students from an early

age. Preschool, elementary and middle school education has a deep impact on children's personality when they grow

up. Therefore, we request your support in our quest to educate your children and prepare them for challenges that

they will encounter and solve outside of the school environment.

The new uniforms have been selected after continued feedback and interaction among parents, faculty, staff,

administration and the school board. Feedback community members and experts from outside the school was also

solicited.

PROCEDURE FOR DRESS CODE VIOLATIONS

Students should come to school properly dressed according to the dress code selected by PTA and approved by the

School Board. It is the parent's responsibility to monitor how students leave home before coming to school. The dress

code will be enforced by Tarbiyah faculty and staff. Students are expected to enter the school premises fully

uniformed. Student who continue to arrive at the school without appropriate uniform (can and) shall be suspended

until a parent conference can be held.

TARBIYAH SCHOOL UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

There are three types of required uniforms: Regular Daily Uniform: This uniform consists of more comfortable clothing. Except for the formal occasions and the gym days, students should be dressed in regular daily uniform. This uniform establishes a minimum regular daily uniform standard. Formal Uniform: This uniform is required only on special occasions and formal meetings or student exchange when students are expected to make presentations, i.e. Events where the student represents Tarbiyah in and outside of the school environment, Student exchange with other schools, Graduation, Science Bee, Science Fair, Math League Bee, Spelling Bee, Arabic Bee, Islamic Contest, Quran Competition and, Class and School Photograph day. There may be other days where formal uniform may be required. In such cases, the information will be communicated in advance. While the formal uniform is only required on days given above or special occasions, this uniform can be worn and used as a regular daily uniform on any or all days of the school. This uniform supersedes the minimum regular daily uniform standard and therefore allowed any day of the school year except when gym uniform is required. Gym Uniform: This uniform consists of clothing that is appropriate for outdoor activities and games. This uniform is required only on gym, games, and field days. Optional Uniform Clothing: While not required, these articles of clothing provide comfort and quality at reasonable prices through Tarbiyah's uniform supplier, i.e., Land's End.

These uniforms may seem expensive, but we have put a lot of thought, consideration and consultation in this process. In the previous years, parents used to buy several sets of the same regular daily uniform so that their children can wear neat and clean uniforms every day of the week. With the new uniform system, you do not need to buy multiple sets of the same uniform anymore.

Pricing Scenario: The retail pricing on several of the uniform items may also seem high. For example, a green full sleeved polo may be purchased for about $18 at Walmart or Target. The retail price for the green full sleeve polo from Lands' End (Tarbiyah's Uniform Supplier) is $30. This makes the polo look expensive. However, Land's end runs six special pricing periods where the price is reduced by 20% to 30%. With a 30% discount, it may cost you $21. They sometimes offer free logo embroidery with your order. Sometimes, it may be reduced as much as 50% (usually for a few days in December). Optional clothing items such as outerwear can be purchased at that time. We will communicate these special pricing periods and will advise you to purchase uniforms during those periods. Lands' End also provides guarantee of the quality of their clothing for the full school year against tears, stitching, discoloring etc. They will replace the articles of clothing if the uniform that you have bought develops these issues. Please see their replacement guarantee carefully. With these compelling reasons, it is clear that the overall cost of ownership of these uniforms becomes more affordable.

Daily Uniform: Every student must wear the REQUIRED Daily Uniform every day. Gym uniforms are to be worn ONLY on gym days, unless otherwise mentioned/requested by the school. The FORMAL uniforms are to be worn on the days mentioned above or on days specified by the school administration. In colder weather, girls may wear t-shirts under their uniform jumper. Boys and girls may wear the uniform sweater or fleece jacket/vest options.

o Black dress or uniform shoes (shoes must be black, free of excessive decorations, flashing lights, glitter, or popular TV or cartoon characters)

o Gym shoes only of gym days o Black socks o Khaki hijab (required for Grades 1 - 8 girls) - purchased only from the school
