If steel structures reach a critical temperature of 450°C to 550°C, they lose their load bearing capability. In the case of fire, this can happen to unprotected steel within a few minutes.
Sika® Unitherm® Platinum-120 delays the heat build-up: under the impact of heat the coating swells to form a foam. The originally millimeter-thin coating converts into a centimeter-thick, micro-porous foam that insulates the substrate against heat.
