Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) – a building block of IoT
A wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is an integral part of Internet of Things (IoTs) ecosystem. A wireless sensor network
(WSN) of spatially distributed autonomous sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature,
sound, pressure, human body electrolytes etc. and to cooperatively pass their data through the internet cloud. One major
challenge in a WSN is to produce low cost and tiny sensor nodes.

Targeted R&D Grant
Why Targeted R&D Grant? Promote Targeted Research in key growth areas
Drive new technology development and innovation (products,
solutions) for intended market verticals
Shaped by Technology & Market trends Input from industry and
academia partners
Funding consideration
Proposal must satisfy the specific requirements of cluster
Development of novel solutions for Connected Healthcare use cases
Development of specific technology components for targeted
application for LED
Development of IoT interoperable communication de-facto standard
Project is evaluated based on its contributions to the greater
cluster’s shared vision.
Higher consideration for projects that are pursuing Open IP
Targeted R&D Grant
IP Ownership consideration If CREST contributes > 50%
CREST will jointly own the IP with the intention to make this IP
widely available for further exploitation
Open IP
Own by inventor, openly made available for public use; royalties
up for discussion
All subsequent users/licensee of the Open IP created must
contribute back to the pool of IP.
• Either the subsequent users/licensees of the open IP will be
required to pay a small royalty from profits made from the
Open IP or
• The users/ licensees are to contribute the Foreground IP
created from the Open IP, used back into the pool of IP.
