Dear Friends,
Tarry House celebrated its 49th year providing behavioral health
and recovery services to the constituents of Summit County in
2016.
Tarry House provided residential recovery/treatment, respite
housing, supported housing and community psychiatric and
supportive treatment (CPST) and counseling services to over 250
different people in 2016. Overall, Tarry House provided 8497
total unit days of service in its respite and residential treatment
homes, about 2200 tenant days of supported housing and about
1800 units of CPST and Counseling Services. In 2016, Tarry
House began billing third party payers directly for counseling and
community psychiatric service treatment. Tarry House went
through several audits in 2016 and passed all with flying colors.
In 2016, Tarry House continued its support of the ADM Board
Levy Support Committee’s ADM Recovery Challenge; a family
friendly, 5k obstacle course. Tarry House was a $1500 sponsor.
Over 400 people participated, and monies were raised to support
the Levy. Tarry House Executive Director Mike Bullock once
again was the race director.
Team Tarry House, for the 14th year in a row, with its 24 runners
and 2 walkers participated in the Akron Marathon. All Tarry
House employees and many board members took part in the 13th
annual Tarry House Staff Retreat at the Mingo Pavilion at the
Sand Run Metro Park. At this retreat, employees and board
members participated in strategic planning activities which lead
to the 2017-19 Tarry House Strategic Plan. Consultant Linda
Diefendorff guided staff and board members through a very
comprehensive strategic planning process.
Several employees received service anniversary awards in 2016:
Natalie Grier and John Clark celebrated 10 years, Renee Rhone
and Ruthie Rankin celebrated 5 years and LaToni Whiteside
celebrated 3 years.
The Tarry House staff members, the board of trustees and the
people we serve thank the many people and organizations who
have supported our mission for many years. We look forward to
2017 and celebrating Tarry House’s 50th Anniversary as a not-for-
profit corporation.
