Dear BBC

I am writing to you to ask permission upon the right of using match of the day theme track. Our collage are producing an interviews based on educational purposes upon football. We will be posting this on an unpopular channel on YouTube just so our examiner can mark it. We want to use the match of the day theme song as background music for our interview. Can we have your permission to let us use the theme song?

Yours Sincerely

Students from Leyton sixth form collage

Sound Check

Sound checks are used to make sure that the sound systems which are being used are clear and at the right volume and tonal frequencies. Sound checks are especially importantin music events such as gigs, radios, podcasts and pretty much anything that includes music and speaking. So When we are producing our podcast we will be checking on the sound and making sure that the setting of recording levels is good, will we try to produce our podcast in an acoustic quiet environment this is so there will be no exterior sound because you might be as quiet as a mouse, but the world outside is a noisy place. And because we are in a college there will be lots of students talking so to avoid all the nose we will try to find acoustic environments so we can isolate the background noises. Also we must avoid the proximity effect which is when there is an increasing bass of frequencies as a directional microphone comes close to the sound source. This makes the recording sound not as good and muffled so as I said to avoid this we will try to find acoustic environments such as recording studios or rooms with not many hard shiny surfaces such as tables, whiteboards etc. This is because sound bounces off of these objects and causes reverb and echoes which will travel through and be heard in the recording. This is known as interior sound it is airborne sound inside rooms, and how it propagates and interacts with the rooms surfaces and objects. But its also about perception of the rooms acoustic properties too. Also when we are holding the microphone we must also make sure that we are not too close to it so that voices can be clearly heard and not sound fluffed and muffled. To avoid this we will stand 2 inches away from the microphone when any of us speaks. In addition to this when we have our equipment we must make sure that it is all correctly working and that the microphone is clearly picking up the voices which are talking. We can check this by using a test on the microphone and then listening back to it to see if it has picked up the sound or not. When we are editing our podcast on Logic will also be able to listen back to our audio to see if it has correctly all been picked up by the mic.

Health and safety (risk assessment)

Watch out for wire cables across the floor that will tangle up and cause distress.

Make sure the surface is clear and water free, otherwise that will cause danger people who are walking past to fall over.

Make sure the interviewee and interviewer doesnt hold the microphone too close otherwise the sound levels will be off point and possibly dangerous (as the mic can explode).

Be careful with the environment that youre filming in. For example, if youre filming in a busy area make sure it is eco-friendly and clear of hazards.

I would advise the area to be quiet and peaceful.
