Unit 30 Assignment 2 Task 3 Stefan Constantinou Brief Idea Nature Channel – Filming – Pathos - Funny Setting: The camera is zoomed into a Lynx can in the wild/jungle. The camera will be freehand like on a typical nature show. As the camera is wobbling in his hand, it makes a sudden pan to the right to see women in bikinis. They are in an animalistic stance and looking ready to pounce. Suddenly, the camera takes a strong sweep to the left after hearing twigs break from beneath their feet, men in briefs with leafs tucked in ready to pounce like the women. Throughout this all, a narrator will be talking over this all to create suspense saying such things as “This is becoming very tense”. The advert ends with the men and women sprinting toward the Lynx can. (The Lynx can could possibly have the smaller cans available to buy representing eggs or smaller animals). In this advert, the can will represent the prey, and the men and women will represent the predators. This will all be done in one or two shots, which is quite unique for an advert. Brief Idea

Nature Channel – Filming – Pathos - Funny

Setting: The camera is zoomed into a Lynx can in the wild/jungle.

Technical Equipment

This idea will require a lot of necessary equipment to make it a success. We would require a Canon 600D DSLR to film the advert in excellent quality; fortunately this is already in our possession as it was previously purchased. A Vinten Pro-10DC System tripod as it is for professional usage to produce an outstanding outcome. Lighting and a Glide-cam is also necessary as the lighting may be bad in the area we are filming and the Glide-cam will allow a seamless shot with no outlying wasteful shots. The website http://www.hireacamera.com/camcorders/tripods.asp, is where the tripod, Glide-cam and lighting equipment. The tripod costs £72 for a week which is enough time to shoot the advert as we will be working on it every day. The lighting will cost £30 for the week. Lastly, the Glide-cam will cost £340 as we will be buying the product rather than renting it, this will be better in long terms as this won’t be needed for rental use in the future.

Potential Filming Locations

The location of this will be filmed in a secluded area at Hampstead Heath; this is the area I plan to shoot my film as it has bushes and trees, which is what my idea is based around. There are not many other local places that could look like the wilderness and could be suitable for filming. Although consent from the landowner will be necessary, it would only take a weeks notice for us to film, which shouldn’t be a problem to do. Another location in a secluded area would be decent but this is the area we would like to priorities in as the large area fits best for the advert. Public transport near the Heath includes London Overground railway stations Hampstead Heath and Gospel Oak and London Underground stations at Hampstead and Belsize Park to the south, Golders Green to the northwest, and Highgate and Archway to the east. Buses serve several roads around the Heath. Living locally, this location was chosen as it close to where the crew lives so getting there isn’t a hassle. Throughout this filming, there may be

some problems we face, such as the weather. If it starts raining whilst we are filming we would have to stop filming and find shelter. Another possible problem is that we will be in bushes and trees so one of our crewmembers may slightly cut themselves.

Actors and Actresses For this advert to be a success, we will need actors and actresses suitable for the advert. We need 5 men who are fairly attractive; aged around 23, to be in briefs with leafs hanging out to make them look like wild characters. We also need 5 fairly attractive women; aged around 21, to wear bikinis with leafs in their hair. We will find these actors and actresses through word of mouth, as that is the easiest and cheapest way to find what we need. Of course they will not be speaking in the advert so the only thing we need to do is check if they can act animalistic. We are hoping to pay each of our actors and actresses a small amount each, roughly £30 a day each, as we will know them personally and they will know we are thankful for their help.

Costumes and PropsThe costumes we will need for the men are briefs for each of the men and leaves to put inside. The costumes for the women are bikinis each with leafs to put in their hair and bras etc. We will clearly be using the Lynx can in the advert, which will be the most predominant prop on screen. A nest will also be necessary for Lynx can to sit upon as it has the ‘prey’ role and has to look wanted. Members of our crew will obtain these props and costumes, as this will be a low budget advert so ordering from stores will not be needed. All the costumes and props will be kept in a sufficiently large enough bag so nothing will get damaged; this bag will be kept at one of the official crewmembers houses and will be with them on set daily. These will all cost under £80, as it’s not expensive clothing and props, and this is beneficial because we will make the advert stay low budget.
