NORMA PATRICIA MARTINEZ CAAMAÑO Norma patricia Martínez Caamaño [email protected] Task 4.2 1. How would you as a teacher trainer introduce the peer lesson observation? I would tell the teachers that the peer observation is a tool to notice what other teachers do all right and to take note of what the teacher should modify. It is not about criticism but about ways to improve the teaching. 2. Which observation task could be interesting for your trainees? Write down some ideas. First, it would be interesting if they know what they are going to observe, second, they should write down ideas of what the teacher should improve according to them, third, they should write down what the teacher does fine. 3. How would you prepare your visit with the trainee? Which information do you need before the observation? The trainee needs to know what is the purpose of the observation, they need to know that they are not going to interrupt the teacher in his/her class but observe and at the end they will give feedback to the teacher about the strengths and weaknesses about the teacher’s performance. 4. How long should the lesson observation last? It should last enough to observe different stages of the class. 5. How would you write down your feedback? Create a feedback sheet which you could use for your future lesson observations. 6. How would you manage the feedback-discussion? Write down the most important rules. First they should start with the strengths that the teacher observed during the class; second they should mention some suggestions for improving the weak areas that they observed. 7. What happens if the trainee fails? What advice would you give him/her? I would tell her/him that it is normal to fail the first time and that it is in time that he/she will be able to do it better. 8. What can the trainee do, if he does not accept the feedback of the trainer?
